Parenting 4 This Week @ MissionWay:
The Discipline Challenge

One of the most difficult challenges facing parents today is the challenge of discipline. In a "kid-centered" culture it's easier to let our kids set the agenda than to take leadership in providing them loving, intentional guidance.  Join us Sunday as we take an honest look at what the Bible teaches about this critical parenting challenge.

A refusal to correct is a refusal to love; love your children by disciplining them.

Proverbs 13:24 The Message
Loving Like Jesus
Our Missions Team met this week to plan activities for the fall and next spring.  We hope you will take advantage of the opportunities to reach out into our community and be the hands and feet of Christ.  We hope you will become a sacrificial servant by joining us for the Fall Festival at The Oaks Apartments, building homes through Habitat for Humanity, serving at the Nease Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, or volunteering at SeaMark Ranch.  We will provide details and dates for these opportunities in the next few weeks. For more information, contact Matt Wilbanks.
Thanks for A Great Picnic!
Last Sunday we got together as a church and community to celebrate the exciting time of baptism with William and Loraine Lewis.

We also enjoyed being in fellowship with one another through playing sports, watching the Jags game and eating a delicious meal. We are grateful to those who brought food and friends. Thank you for coming out to be a part of this important time of joining together as a community.

Young Adult/College Community Group
Thanks to those who participated in our group this week!  We had a successful first meeting at Jacksonville University.  Our Young Adult/College Community Group will meet again Tuesday, October 7, at 7 p.m. at Jacksonville University.  We will be studying a passage from Scripture together, enjoy a time of food and fellowship, and play some fun games.  Please plan to attend and invite a friend!  If you are a young adult or college student and want to get involved, contact Jenna.

Destiny Academy Update
We are excited to continue in our partnership with Destiny Academy, an elementary school in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.  As we reported over the summer, we supported 10 students at Destiny for the 2007/2008 academic school year.

We have recently learned that one of those students was retained in the 2nd grade.  Her name is Tsion and we need to continue praying for her and her family.  Her family is uneducated and unable to help her with her homework and the subjects in which she struggles.  As a result, school is sometimes very difficult for her.  Pray that Hareg and Yonatan, as well as her teachers, would be able to give Tsion the support and encouragement she needs to continue learning.

We are also excited to announce that we now have the names of 10 additional students we will be sponsoring for the next school year.  Continue to pray for each of the original 10 students and the additional 10 students as they begin this new school year at Destiny.  Specifically pray for Hareg and Yonatan as they continue to seek God in finding ways to reach these families with Christ's love.

We will announce more information soon about our next trip to serve in Addis Ababa.  If you are interested in being a part of the ministry at Destiny, contact Jamie.
