Marketing Gone Bad

Greetings!

Any of you newsletter subscribers that are regular blog readers (thank you blog readers!) will have noticed that I've added a new category of blog postings.

I got tired of seeing all the butchering of O&P terms in the press so I took action. The new category? "Pet Peeve"

I now post the offending verbiage on the blog and then I email the editor or reporter and send them the link to the glossary at O&P Care and tell them, for example (and nicely of course) that Orthoist is not a real word.

I also put real examples of correct usage. As an example of what to do. Like this.

You can help.

Here's the link to the O&P Care Glossary. If you don't want to send them an email, you can always just forward the article to me and I'll be happy to do it.

The One-of-a-Kind Factor

Candy

Every year I volunteer at the St. Francis Hospital & Medical Center "Swing for St Francis" Golf and Tennis Tournament fund raiser.

It was this past Monday at the Hopmeadow Country Club in Simsbury, CT and it's 350.00 bucks per golfer.
This year we had 252 golfers and 56 tennis players - clearly, money's not an object.

The door prize that got the most attention??
The one that got all the oooohs and aaaahs?
The one everyone wanted to win?

The giant (9.25 pounds - 20,000+ calories) Nestle Crunch bar donated by Mark Sinatro (see, I even remember his name!)

Forget about the Waterford crystal, the golf clubs, the gift certificates.
The candy bar was cool.
It was unique.
It was one-of-a-kind.
It was memorable.

What's your one-of-a-kind factor?

It could be:

Marketing Tips & Topics

Lightbulb

Craig Rooney of Fillauer, sent in this marketing tip recently.

"I went to a family-owned (non-chain) grocery store and at the bottom of the receipt, instead of the usual customer satisfaction blah, blah, blah that you see on all the big chain stores receipts, it said 'IF YOU OWNED THIS STORE, WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO MAKE IT BETTER?' And I thought of you and the newsletter!"

Excellent! Thanks Craig!
I agree. It's much better and more eye-catching than this:
