Greetings!

I took the Futura Intl Training Course recently.
Some of the attendees stayed at the Radisson - which is currently featuring the Sleep Number bed.

My classmate, Bob Eichel from Advanced P&O in Mt. Dora, FL had this story to tell:

"The toilet in my room was broken when I arrived. I called the front desk and someone was up to fix it in 3 minutes. I was initially very impressed with their customer service....but, it was quickly overshadowed by the bed. All anyone could talk about was the bed. 'How'd you sleep? What's your sleep number?' Everywhere you looked - from the do not disturb door hangers to signs in the lobby to ads on the hotel channel - it was all about the bed. And the bed wasn't that great. All I'm going to remember about the hotel was that the Sleep Number bed didn't live up to the hype."

Ah, Bob - that's "Affective Misforecasting" hard at work!

Weather related marketing

It's Hurricane Preparedness Week May 20-26

Home Depot is doing it.

Tornadoes?

American Red Cross has everything from a Disaster Preparedness Coloring Book to a list of supplies you should have on hand - and it's all in Spanish, too.

It doesn't matter whether you're a patient care facility or a vendor/supplier, you can still utilize weather related marketing.

Patient care:
Care and use guides talk about how to wash your textiles or liners - but what should you do if you don't have access to water?
Speaking of textiles - do they have an emergency sock stash?
Back up batteries for their bilateral C-legs?

Vendors, Suppliers, Central Fabs:
Are you letting your customers know what you can do for them should they have weather/disaster related problems?
Do you have your customers email or cell phone as a back up in case their phone lines are down?

You can always send out a press release letting your local media know what you are doing to help your patients, clients, customers prepare and don't forget to post it on your website.
