The two best times to get publicity are
- during the holiday season between Thanksgiving
and Christmas
- the week between Christmas and New Year's
Eve
In other words, right now!!
Why?
Because timing is everything and at
the end of the year traditional news
sources dry up.
- Politicians are on vacation
- Business leaders are on vacation
- Schools are closed
But, the newspaper, tv and radio reporters all need
something to report. The same amount of space and
time needs to be filled as it does during "hot" news
times!
Start warming up that pitching arm.

What stories about your
business can you pitch to a reporter that he/she
might find
newsworthy? Some examples:
Seasonally related story I live in
Connecticut. When I was in patient
care we had patients that were amputees
as a result of snowmobile accidents. Tis
the season
for snowmobiling...so why not pitch a story to the
media on the "little known dangers of snowmobiling"
and feature a
patient who lost their leg in a snowmobiling
accident. (You know how the
news programs love to run those scary
promos!)
If you live near the water -
you could pitch a story featuring a patient who
wears an orthosis or prosthesis because of boating
or jet skiing accident.
Business trend
story Are you always really busy at the end
of the year
because everyone's already met their
deductible and wants an appointment before
12/31?
Pitch a story on how you'll be open
late on your own "Black Friday" - December 29th - so
people can get that last minute, year end
appointment.
