"Once Upon a Time..."

with the Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra

Double MATINEE Weekend

March 3 & 4: Saturday & Sunday @ 3:00 p.m.

Pre-concert activities for young people ages 5 - 12 start @ 2:00 p.m. and include instrument making, an instrument petting zoo, performance demonstrations, and more!

 

Inspired by fairy tales, this show is for the WHOLE family:   

Mozart - Die Zauberflöte, K. 620: Overture

 

Bruch - Concerto for Violin No. 1 in G minor, op. 26 

Performed by Corin Lee, an up-and-coming and outstanding young artist

 

  Ravel - Ma mère l'Oye (Mother Goose) Suite 

 

Nielsen - Aladdin, op. 34: 7 pieces (Selections)

 

 Journey to a land of mythological creatures, flying carpets, genies, and adventures with the Brothers Grimm and Mother Goose in this family-friendly program inspired by fairy tales.  

 

Conductor Wesley Schulz has been lauded by musicians for his "intensity and emotion" in performances and for his "approachable and inspiring" leadership.

Pre-Concert Cello Concert at 2:00 - 2:30 p.m. in Hodges Hall

Julia Edwards, Marit Ellerby, Sophie Naden-Johns, and Andrew Witty (young cello students of Priscilla Jones, ages 9 - 11), are joined by Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra cellists Barbara Deppe, Stephanie Schmidt, Sandy Keinholz, and Leanna Glasby, who perform their own version of the Once Upon a Time... musical story, including Gigue from J.S. Bach's Unaccompanied Suite in G Major, a movement from J.S. Bach's Gamba Sonatas arranged for three cellists by Rick Mooney, the first movement of Goltermann's Concerto No. 4, and a medley of folk tunes arranged by Erik Nordstrom and Priscilla Jones. Pre-concert cello presentation arrangements are courtesy of Priscilla Jones.
