Diminishing Unsightly 'Spider Veins' ...

Millions of people are bothered by spider veins...

Spider veins are those small yet unsightly clusters of red, blue or purple veins that most commonly appear on the thighs, calves and ankles. In fact, it's estimated that at least half of the adult female population is plagued with this common cosmetic problem. Sclerotherapy can enhance your appearance and your self confidence.

Dr. Alexander P. Ataii, Certified by the American College of Phlebology, is treating spider veins with sclerotherapy. Sclerotherapy is the gold standard method for the elimination of varicose veins and superficial telangiectasis (spider veins) in which a solution called a sclerosing agent is injected into the veins. In this rather simple procedure, veins are injected with a sclerosing solution, which causes them to collapse and fade from view. The procedure may also remedy the bothersome symptoms associated with spider veins, including aching, burning, swelling and night cramps.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Who are candidates for Sclerotherapy?

Women and Men of any age may be good candidates for sclerotherapy.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments needed to clear or improve the condition differs from patient to patient, depending on the extents of varicose and spider veins present.

What is the difference between “Spider Veins” and “Varicose Veins”?

Spider veins - known in the medical world as telangiectasias - are small, thin veins that lie close to the surface of the skin. Although these super-fine veins are connected with the larger venous system, they are not an essential part of it. Varicose veins differ from spider veins in a number of ways. Varicose veins are larger - usually more than a quarter-inch in diameter, darker in color and tend to bulge. Varicose veins are also more likely to cause pain and be related to more serious vein disorders. For some patients, sclerotherapy can be used to treat varicose veins.

Is there “downtime” after the Sclerotherapy procedure?

No, there is no downtime. You will be required to wear tight-fitting prescription support hose to guard against blood clots and to promote healing for one week. The prescription support hose will be provided to you by Laser Cliniqúe.

Recommendations For Better Legs

Regular Exercise & Move Your Legs Frequently

Walking, running, stair master, aerobics, swimming, elliptical machine, or biking for 30 minutes , 5 – 7 days per week will help reduce aching, pain and fatigue in your legs. While flexing your ankles 10 times will pump the blood out of your legs like walking does. Repeat this every 10 minutes while standing or sitting and try to walk for at least 2 minutes every half hour.

Elevate Your Legs & Avoid Wearing High Heels

Elevating your legs above heart level for at least 10 minutes once or twice daily may diminish aching and swelling. Also, wearing high heels interferes with the normal pumping action that occurs when you walk and may lead to aching and cramping of the legs.

Lastly, Maintain a Proper Weight

Even moderate weight loss may reduce aching in the legs due to varicose veins and diminish the rate at which spider veins develop.
