| Deborah Jung Receives Legacy of Women Award |
|
|
Deborah Jung, founder and executive director of Kids Who Care was recently honored with the 2008 Legacy of Women Award in the Arts Category at the 16th Annual Legacy of Women Awards.
Outstanding women in five categories were honored earlier this month by SafeHaven, an organization dedicated to the service and support of domestic violence victims. Fort Worth Mayor Mike Moncrief recommended Deborah for the award because of her dedication to shaping futures: "As these children develop as artists, they are also becoming strong leaders and responsible citizens. In this way, Deborah Jung helps create not only accomplished artists, but also future leaders of our city."
Deborah and her team have touched the lives of more than 200,000 children and raised more than $800,000 in Hope Scholarships throughout the 20 years of Kids Who Care's history. Kids Who Care creates quality, affordable, live entertainment and seeks audiences who do not always have opportunities to attend theatre, including the Fort Worth Butler Housing Community and the Boys and Girls Clubs in Fort Worth and Chicago. "Deborah has dedicated her professional life to not only producing great, professional theatre but also producing great kids, which is the mission of Kids Who Care," said Paige Pate, Kids Who Care mom and board member, who also nominated her for the award. "Deborah's contributions are seen not only in the professional theatre pieces she produces, but in the hearts and minds of children who grow up in the midst of her program."
CONGRATULATIONS to Deborah and Kids Who Care for this well-deserved recognition! |
