Creating Tomorrow's Corporate & Community Leaders
An important part of Kids Who Care is our year-round and summer leadership training programs.
Our year-round leadership program, the KidPower Board, includes high school and university students. The team's responsibilities include:
- 2 seats on the Kids Who Care Board of Directors
- Development and management of the annual KidPower Campaign, to raise funds for summer student staff stipends
- Provide leadership for the Resident Company, including set up and strike at all performances
Our summer leadership program, the Summer KidPower Team, includes youth of all ages (2nd grade to university) who help Kids Who Care's summer camps run smoothly. All Kids selected for the Summer KidPower Team - interns, apprentices, student staff (16+) and university-level camp staff - are required to participate in Kids Who Care's proprietary training model the week prior to camp. The Kids Who Care training includes:
- Verve - The Five Points of Power
- The Kids Who Care Culture
- Kids Who Care Founding Principles
- Goals to Action to Jobs
- Skills, Games, Warm-ups, Ensemble
- Workshop of Production
- Leadership Logistics
ALL kids on the KidPower Board and the Summer KidPower Team raise funds for summer student staff stipends. They do this through a letter-writing campaign, a phone campaign, tshirt sales throughout the year, summer lunch and snack sales, a dance-a-thon, online donations and other fundraising activities spearheaded by the kids.
This year, the Summer KidPower Team's goal is $35,000. Last year, their goal was $25,000, and they raised $30,331!
