Greetings!

Hello and welcome to all the new Classy Scrappers! We are glad you found us and hope that you enjoy your first issue of the Classy Scrapper News.

Just when I thought Fall would never arrive, there is a chill in the air! It was only 46 degrees outside when I awoke. Brrrr! That makes for a chilly morning inside the house. The weather is surely inviting for an inside day of cropping. Take a moment, grab your Plush Pak and a few Sketch a Day Sketches and complete some pages! It's a great time to catch up on some of those 2006 photos or perhaps you are already working on your Summer 2007. If you are even close that's wonderful! Enjoy!

Come join us in the forum this month and let us inspire you to scrapbook more, create a fun make n take or simply get to know more Classy Scrappers around the world!

I hope that we inspire you to try something different. There are plenty of ideas here for getting those pages done and be sure to check out the online gallery for plenty of layout ideas and sketches to ignite your creativity!

Enjoy,Tiare

  • Altered Film Canisters
  • Make these cute little canisters to add a touch of fun while organizing your office and/or scrapbook space.

Gather a few film canisters with lids. These will work great for small embellishments or desk drawer items. I chose to use paper clips, safety pins and quarters. You could easily make these for different colored brads, eyelets, jewels, small clips or other small embellies.

    1. Print titles of canister contents onto pieces of patterned paper. Cut these papers in 2" x 4 3/4" pieces.
    2. Use a 1 1/4" punch for to cover the lids. I punched out flowers and a butterfly.
    3. Add rick rack or ribbon around and adhere in the back.
    4. Add cut out flowers or other embellishments.
    5. Adhere a silk flower to the bottom of one of the canisters.

Use a variety of papers and embellies to make your canisters unique! Have fun!

  • How'd You Create That Layout?
  • I thought it would be exciting to try to make my patterned paper look like big strips of ribbon! This layout was simple to put together and I love the effect of the various patterns up against each other on the cardstock background. To recreate a layout similar to this you will need:

Supplies From October 2007 Classy Pak and other Classy Paks:

    • Paper Trunk Batik Papers
    • Green Plaid Ribbon
    • Basic Grey Tags from the August Classy Pak
    • Solid Green Ribbon form Past Pak
    • Round "Never Give Up" Sticker from November 2006 Pak
    Other supplies needed:
    • Happy Everything Journaling Card
    • Cardstock
    • Letter Stickers
    • White Flower
    • Flat Word Stickers
    • Two 3 1/2 X 5 inch photos

    Instructions:

    1. Trim 4 different widths from the Paper Trunk Batik Papers
    2. I trimmed mine down to approximately 1 3/4 inches, 2 1/2 inches, 2 3/4 inches and 3 inches. They are all about the same length, around 10 inches long. I cut a "V" into one end of each strip to make it look like a fancy cut on a piece of ribbon.
    3. Next, I simply added the strips to my cardstock background and then layered my photos, title block, and embellishments on top of the strips.
    4. I tucked four Basic Grey tags form the August pak behind my two small photos to make them pop a bit against the patterned background.
    5. Finally, I added my journaling to the top and bottom edges of the layout.

I wrote slowly and carefully to avoid spelling errors. If you were to make a mistake, I think it would be fun to simply add another Basic Grey tag on top of the error by tucking it behind the top or bottom strip of paper "ribbon". This entire page only took about 30 minutes to complete!
