Meet Our Managers
This month, we feature Chris Gelinski, manager of our Seattle location, with FSS since 2003.
Hot product in your store right now?
Wooden boxes without a doubt. They're perfect for floral or garden arrangements. Natural looking products in general are very popular right now.
Most memorable customer quote? This past summer I had a customer who was in a pinch because we did not have enough footed bowls for her upcoming event. As a last resort, I decided to call customers who had purchased footed bowls from Floral Supply Syndicate in the past to see if they would be willing to rent them out. Well, it didn't take long to find someone to save the day. This customer agreed to assist without hesitation, and I later found out that she had refused payment, explaining that she had just wanted to help a fellow florist. I remember thinking this is why I'm working in the floral industry: the people involved are smart, kind, and resourceful. Your favorite holiday? I'm a big fan of all holidays, so it's hard to choose just one, but I'll go with Independence Day. Warmer temperatures, barbeques, fireworks, time off work, and separation of the thirteen colonies from Great Britain are ingredients for a great holiday.
Last movie you saw? Just watched the classic 1974 film Chinatown for the first time. The story is inspired by the California Water Wars that took place during the early 1900's. It stars Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. I give it two thumbs up. Favorite vacation spot? St. Petersburg, Florida, where I grew up. The beaches are fantastic and there's a lot of interesting history, architecture, and nature preserves around the area. Also, I'm obligated to see my parents at least once a year. Favorite comfort food? Home-made chocolate chip cookies with milk. |
