 Things are HEATING up!The temperature, humidity levels, politics and The Well Armed Woman! The Facebook group is at almost 20,000 fans and the topics and comments are HOT! It is never a dull day on and I am having a blast with you. I hope you are enjoying it too. You make me laugh, cry, think, gasp and grow. Thank you for that!
With all of this HEAT going on, I am concerned that your carry guns are coming OFF! As it gets hotter, it can be harder to carry your firearm comfortably. Clothing gets thinner, shorter and waistbands looser leaving fewer areas to carry our concealed firearms. Please press through this! Be creative and make necessary changes to holsters and/or clothing as I have read that crime rates go up in the summer, so it is not the time we want to be un-armed. Use great caution if you find you are carrying "off body" more as in a purse or bag. Every precaution must be made to prevent loss, theft or access to children or others who are not trained in safe firearm use. There are more holster options then there has ever been, perhaps it's a good time to update your holsters.

I am currently 18 years of age studying Equine Science and hopefully next year I'll be studying Veterinary Science at Charles Sturt Univerity here in Australia. Last year I studied Veterinary nursing and became a Vet Nurse.
I have been shooting since I was 12, which was as soon as I was old enough to get my shooters permit. My father has shot all types of gun disciplines his whole life, so my brother and I followed into his foot steps and fell in love with guns and shooting, I now have 2 little sisters who have watched me shoot for some years and are now shooting as well as me, so I am not the only young Well Armed Women in this family!
Maddie who is 15, is the NSW Junior Champion and 2nd Junior girl champion in Australia, and Casey who is 14, Is the NSW Bukeret Champion and 2nd Bukerette Champion in Australia.
Jessie's shooting achievements:
- Current, for the last 2 years, the Australian Ladies Single Action Shooting Champion
- 2009 and 2010 Women's Australian Black powder shooting champion (did not participate last year as I was in hospital and this years competition is not until november.
- The current holder of the 'Ladies All Gun speed scenario' world record.
- Former world champion - came 3rd in the world in 2008 (have not had the money to return since 2008)
- Selected as one of the Australians to be sponsered to attend the world championships in Alburquerque in america this year but am unable to attend due to my studies.
- For the last 2 years I have been the NSW ladies champion and the 2 years before that I was the Junior girls NSW champion.
I love this sport for many reasons
- I love guns
- I love the family that you develop with all the shooter you meet
- I love the costumes we wear
- I love the thrill and the speed involved with this sport
- Its the only sport I know here in Australia that 3-4 generations of one family can be participating in the same sport at the same time and you can continue to shoot until the day you die.

| INSTRUCTIONAL TIP -
CLEARING A MISFEED
Malfunctions can happen with all machines, and so it is with a firearm. Learning the techniques to deal with them quickly and safely is very important. There are a number of causes for malfunction. They can be caused by the ammunition not performing correctly, the firearm itself may have an internal mechanical issue, your firearm is very dirty, or they can occur due to human error. This article will focus on the type of malfunction known as MISFEEDS. Your ability to quickly and safely clear a misfeed, enables you to better protect yourself and to prevent an accidental discharge of your firearm.
The misfeed is the most common malfunction. This happens when the round is not properly chambered and the firearm jams.
One of the biggest advantages of revolvers is, if you have a malfunction, most can be solved by simply pulling the trigger again.
A Semi-Automatic Pistol relies on the action of the slide to eject the spent shell and draw in the next round into the chamber. Sometimes this doesn't go as it should and a round of ammunition does not enter the chamber properly, so you need to know how to quickly clear the misfeed so you can defend yourself.
The task in clearing a misfeed is to remove the jammed round and get a new round into the chamber as quickly as possible. There are three different types of misfeeds.
