March Well Armed Woman Profile - Angie Green
My name is Angie Green, and I am a "Well Armed Woman." I have to tell you that I would never in a million years would have thought that I'd be a CCW permit holder, let alone be involved in something so much fun as Cowboy Action Shooting. I started going to local shoots with my boyfriend after we started seeing each other and I was immediately hooked. It took several months for me to start shooting, as I didn't really think I was ready. One of the cowboys, "Leadslinger Shep" (we all have 'aliases as they did in the old west) at one of the local matches had asked me if I was going to shoot that day, and I said probably not, and he promptly said " What are you waiting for? Just do it." Well, needless to say the rest is history. Shep gave me ammo and all the garb, others let me use their guns and though I shot REALLY bad that day, I wanted more. I've done pretty well for just starting out, won a few awards here and there, but to me that's just a perk. The friendships I have gained and the fun I have had is priceless. Leadslinger Shep passed away last November. I was devastated. He was my mentor, and I was told many times how proud he was of me, and how far I had come in such a short period of time. I miss him greatly, and think of him every day.
Anyway, there are a lot of "Cowgirls" in the sport, but not near enough. I promote CAS anytime and anywhere I can. Having been involved in CAS has made me much more comfortable and confident in carrying when I need. I think that if more women were involved in shooting sports on a recreational basis, becoming a concealed carry holder would be an easier transition. Thanks again for the service and information you are providing to women. It's been a long time coming!

Instructional Tip - Trigger Shy No More
Pulling the trigger is really not something foreign to you. In fact, you likely do it many times a week.
Smooth trigger pull is critical for accuracy in hitting your target whether in a life and death situation, in competitive shooting or..... even in cleaning the bathroom! Proper trigger pull is accomplished with first, a properly fitting handgun for the size of your hand and your finger length. You want to get as close as you can to having the first joint of your trigger finger on the trigger. This will not only give you better leverage on the trigger, but it will also help to have a clean and straight trigger pull, front to back. Not having "enough" finger on the trigger will tend to result in shots going to the left and having the finger too far onto the trigger results with shots going to the right. (Right handed shooter) This is the same as when you are cleaning your bathroom!
Pulling the trigger on a spray bottle, is basically the same action. A nice smooth pull of the trigger - results in a smooth stream of cleaner landing in the right place.

Product Picks - The Pin-Up Collection
If you are not carrying your firearm
It can't save your life!
The newest in women's holsters are hitting the market with a real bang. Designed by a woman, these newest members to the holster family are a welcomed improvement to women gun owners. The Flashbang - the new bra-holster has become extremely popular and offers a new way for women to carry. With all of our clothing styles, having multiple holster options is really the only way to be able to concealed carry everyday - regardless of wardrobe. I wear the model for the Kahr P380 and it is really comfortable and I am not very large busted! The Flashbang comes in a variety of sizes for the most common handguns women tend to own. It is a kydex "clam shell" holster which means it snaps over your fun snuggly with a open crease along the bottom. The holster is attached to the center of the bra. A simple pull downward on the gun grip and the gun is out and ready. Click here to view an instructional video made by the creator with instructions for use.
The Betty Holster is another design made for women using the same materials and "clam shell" style but is worn inside the pants. I really don't mean to sound like a commercial, but this holster is really comfortable for me. It's shape and styling and very deep and wide "tuckable" clip allows me to tuck in any shirt - no matter how long or what material. (Hard to see in the photo but there is a wide and deep space between the back of the clip and the side of the holster) |
