CCAP Holds Elections for Board Seat

Newly elected Board member,
Jasmine D. Coleman.

When a community representative seat is vacated on the CCAP Board of Directors, the by-laws state that the Board must host an official election for the members of the community to be represented.  During May, the Board held an election for the Community 5 seat, representing zip codes 28311 and 28390 (northern Fayetteville and Spring Lake.)

Overwhelming interest in the seat yielded 5 qualified, interested candidates from which to choose. The diverse field of candidates engaged in the process through new platforms, offering the public new ways to select the representative that will represent them.

More than 700 ballots were mailed to CCAP clients and participants in those zip codes; an on-site election was held in Spring Lake at the Teens Do Care Center (a SHFB Member Agency); and voting was offered electronically through our social media and web site outreach.

With record-breaking participation in the election through all three mediums, the public elected Jasmine Coleman to fill the Board seat.  Sylvia Williams, CCAP Board Nominating Committee Chair would like to thank all individuals who took the time to vote.

Welcome to the Board, Ms. Coleman and thank you for agreeing to represent your community in this way.
