CCAP Corporate to improve employee recognition programs
In an effort to recognize the continued dedication and commitment of our employees, the Human Resources Department (through the leadership of HR Director, Thomas Cudgel) has organized a new Employee Recognition Committee. Tapped to determine appropriate methods for CCAP to show its heartfelt appreciation in a consistent and meaningful way throughout the agency, the committee will be engaging in research, information gathering, and implementation of an accepted plan.
"I'm honored to be a part of this committee," remarks Andrew Brossia, Network Manager and committee member. "It is important that everyone agency-wide feels valued and recognized for their role, and it is a wonderful thing that CCAP Corporate has begun to take action in building such a program."
Currently, the committee is actively engaging their colleagues to understand what motivates and what you value. If you have suggestions, the committee requests that you forward these directly to them. Members include: Lori Ayers, Andrew Brossia, Tinola Brown, Patricia Dingle, Angelique Gray, Ockidde Harris, Tammy Hawley, Therese Melchiorre, Julia Morales, Miranda Teel, Susan Vinson, and Evelyn Miller.

CCCS Holds VITA Appreciation Luncheon
On April 27, 2012 CCCS held a VITA Appreciation Luncheon for employees and volunteers who helped make a significant difference in the amount of taxes our clients received. Because our clients used VITA for tax purposes, they were able to save a total of $224,127 in service fees. These clients didn't only save, they earned. The VITA program helped more than 1,000 customers receive refunds in excess of more than $1 million. This is an amazing accomplishment and everyone should be proud, Congratulations CCCS staff and volunteers.

Empowering parents through ASPIRE-Head Start project
 | |
ASPIRE Program Manager, Tiffany Anthony, and Head Start Director, Donna Barnette, with program participants.
|
The Head Start / ASPIRE Orientation was developed to bring the two CCAP departments together for the benefit of Head Start parents interested in pursuing their GED or higher education degree goals. Parents in attendance at this first orientation were provided with assistance and support from both programs. Staff of both ASPIRE and Head Start were present to reinforce the collaborative environment.
Head Start Director, Donna Barnette, and ASPIRE Director, Stephanie Ashley, believe the inter-agency collaborative effort will yield positive results for the families served. "As program Directors, Stephanie and I are very excited at the possibility of reaching more parents and assisting them in improving their quality of life thru education," states Barnette.

Sampson County Home Receives Weatherization Services
 | |
Weatherization Client,
Ammie Jacobs
|
Sampson County resident, Ammie Jacobs, recently had his home weatherized. Individuals from Carolina Weatherization, C-Tech Electrical and CCAP's own in-house weatherization team all made cost effective and energy efficient improvements on the home.
Jacobs learned of the program through the Coharie Intra-Tribal Council and decided to see what it was all about. "The program sounded great, so I put in an application, and I'm glad I did," he said.
Jacobs' home was insulated and the energy efficiency of the home was greatly improved. He also received new fans for his kitchen and bathroom.
Jacobs said he is very pleased with the work done on his home. "I'm expecting to have much lower utility bills this winter and feel more comfortable in my home. In fact, I've been able to notice a difference already," he noted. "With the hot weather we've been having, the insulation is keeping my home cooler, too."
