This week we have more information on next week's Food Truck Round-up!, sub-themed as a "Food Truck Invasion", which looks to be a spectacular follow up to last month's first food truck event at Dinnerware Artspace. We'll have an updated list of trucks participating in next Monday's newsletter.

"Food Truck Invasion" Next Monday, December 5 

 

The next food truck round-up at Dinnerware Artspace

 

Where: 119 E Toole Avenue

When: 5 to 9 pm

 

The "invasion" theme will be augmented by 1950's sci-fi film trailers playing at the venue. The following trucks are scheduled to appear:

Julie Ray of Tucson Food Trucks told be that she hopes for about 11 trucks at this event. 

 

Sponsored by Tucson Food Trucks, and Julie Graphics, with part of the proceeds benefiting Dinnerware Artspace, a community art exhibition space.

This Week at the Marana Farmers' Market

 

 

The Marana Farmers' Market is now located at the New Marana Health Center every Tuesday from 3 to 6 pm! Stop by the new Marana Health Center (13395 N Marana Main St) to stock up on delicious, locally grown fruits, veggies, and honey!

  • The Marana Farm and Consignment program will have winter squash, spaghetti squash, greens, sprouts, turnips, radishes, onions, apples, chiles, eggplant, red potatoes, basil and herbs.
  • The Zhangs will have Marana-grown watermelons, butternut squash, and pumpkins.
  • Tucson Honey Company will have raw, local honey.
  • La Tauna Tortillas will have wheat tortillas (made with your choice of soybean oil or olive oil), wheat-chiltepin tortillas, flour tortillas, and aguas frescas.
  • Jeremy Markley will have tomatoes grown in his hydroponic greenhouse near Wilcox.
  • High Energy Agriculture will have butternut squash and greens.
  • Steve will have herb and other plant starts.
  • Cheris Patriot Eggs may have fresh eggs and ground beef.

The Events page is updated a couple times a week, so you might want to bookmark it and check it between newsletter releases.

 

One of the more offbeat events is the Food Conspiracy's annual Backyard Chicken Coop Tour. The event allows you to visit local chicken coop owners and learn more about urban chicken rearing, as well as other home sustainability features like cisterns, desert gardens, rainwater harvesting basins and solar ovens.
