Greetings!
From time to time we're asked about severance policies, so whenever we find good sources, we like to share them. Our featured story this edition is WorldatWork's recent severance study. You can download a copy of the full report from the link listed at the foot of the story.
Another study that may be of interest is a new quarterly report entitled, "Labor Markets in Review" published by the Conference Board. The report focuses on trends in the labor market and includes an overview of labor demand, supply and compensation as well as short summaries of insightful research.

Severance & Change In Control Policies NEW Research
Severance Plans - A Key Employee Benefit |
|
A study published in August 2011 by WorldatWork and Innovative Compensation and Benefits Concepts LLC concluded that:
- Severance and change-in-control practices have survived the recessionary environment somewhat intact and are similar to what they were prior to the recession.
- The types and duration of outplacement benefits have not changed significantly since the 2009 survey.
- Most organizations still provide one or two weeks per year of service for severance. Many provide a tier of benefits up to the maximum.
- Change-in-control gross-up practices for "golden parachutes" continue to recede and are less popular with compensation committees.
