Greetings!

Fall is in full swing, the leaves have begun to change, and hopefully so have your bodies!

As Joseph Pilates said:

"In 10 sessions you will feel a difference, in 20 sessions you will see a difference, and in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body."

LAB5 GivesNorthwest Harvest has been a staple in our community since 1967, and we could not be more excited to partner with them this year to be a public donation site. Our food drive will kick off on November 1st and run the entire month. In 2010 one in seven households in Washington struggled to provide enough food for their families. Last year alone NW Harvest & their partners provided almost 26 million pounds of food to families in Washington. Help us to make this year their most successful.

Website Facelift: We are happy to share a renewed homepage that will hopefully inspire new interest, and provide more up-to-date information.

Team LAB5: Anyone who has been into the LAB on a weekend has met the fantastic Scott Grese. Scott has only been with us since the middle of July, but he will soon be sorely missed here at the LAB. He has been offered a management position at Rudy's barbershop, and will be stepping out of his role here. Congratulations to Scott--and thank you for all you have done! Accordingly, we are going to be short staffed, & are looking for high quality candidates to work part-time during a couple shifts on the weekend. Please pass along any contact information you may have. Or, they may contact us (info@lab5fitness.com).

Our new schedule has been a success--reserve your space early & make sure you have a spot in your favorite LAB5 method--classes are filling up rapidly. If you have any feeback about your experience, or our class changes connect with us on Facebook & follow us on Twitter.

Thank you for your continued support, and business. Most importantly, thank you for being a part of our LAB5 community--we are so fortunate to have the best people in Seattle working out at the LAB!

Cortney Zamora

Cortney Zamora LAB5 High5
Cortney Zamora

Started at LAB5: 6/2/2011

Favorite workout move: Yoga: pigeon. Pilates: sew the needle/supine circles. TRX: oblique crunches

Hobbies: cooking, traveling, hiking/camping, hosting family visiting from Texas, exploring the new (to me) city of Seattle.

Pets? My neighbors are kind enough to share their sweet cat, Bindi, who likes to visit especially when we're grilling.

Anything else you'd like to share?: I feel like I've hit the jackpot with LAB5. I love the variety of classes offered and the way no class is exactly the same. The instructors do a great job of mixing up the moves so you're always working different muscles. I really appreciate how they all share a genuine interest in your individual progress. Over the last four months, the LAB5 community has completely revamped my outlook on fitness and I'm so very grateful!

From the moment Cortney walked thru the doors of LAB5 we knew she'd be a vital part of our community. Whether bringing in homemade (tasty) lemon-ginger muffins for the LAB, or just her infectious smile--we adore her here. Congrats Cortney--we hope to be a continued part of your fitness journey!

A Word From Our Aerial Expert

 Melinda Ritchie

What attracted you to Aerial Work/Performing?

I saw my sister dancing when I was two years old and begged and begged my parents to let me take lessons too--once I turned three and was old enough. To my parent's credit, for the next 15 years, anything I asked to participate in at my dance studio, they found a way to save up and enroll me. When my dance studio closed during my last year of high school, I felt like I had lost my identity -- like I was a stuffed animal without the plushy filling -- and I drooped and Charlie Brown'ed through life until I got to college and could throw myself full force into dancing once again. That half a year without an outlet or a discipline was enough to teach me that I never, ever again in life, wanted to be without movement, music and exercise. It was then that my decision to make dance and body therapy my life's first great love, was born. Graduating college with a BA in Dance (and two other, unrelated minors), led me to tripping into, and falling head over heels for Diavolo Dance Theater - an acrobatic modern dance company from Los Angeles that is known for its aerial stunts and flys. Touring the world for eight years with Diavolo introduced me to a bevy of amazing and fabulous skill...

Reformer Springs
Variable spring loads on our custom reformer machine help to lengthen and strengthen muscle tissue.

Remember that as a kid?

The same awareness relates to our upper body posture as well as our lower body posture when taking any of our amazing classes at LAB5 Fitness in addition to our regular routines.

Whether you are standing, sitting, walking or LAB5'ing please think of Head, shoulders, knees & toes.  Likewise, whether you are in Aerial Conditioning, Yoga, BARRE, Stretch & From, Ballet or Pilates on the reformer or the Mat think of the childhood jingle to keep your entire body in check.

My favorite recommendation when teaching in class is....

Founder's Corner
Wow! Is that Alan & Bonnie Cashman next to Brian Tracy?

A few months ago we came across an opportunity to write a chapter in an upcoming leadership and success book with Brian Tracy and many other leading experts in business and success, and we of course said YES! The book is titled "Pushing to the Front: Front Line Strategies From the World's Leading Experts." Just the thought of possibly making a difference for anyone needing advice, strategies, encouragement or just a voice saying "Don't give up, keep going," was enough for us to get on board with this book and never look back.

You can download a FREE copy of our chapter in the book, if you go to our homepage and click on the book icon on the bottom right.

Enjoy the Good Life: The Guide to Having It All

In this chapter, we will share our lifestyle journey over the past 40 years of marriage and 30+ years in business together and illustrate how to :

  •  Find the right business opportunities
  •  Program your mind for success
  •  Transform your health

We now enjoy success in every facet of our lives. It was no accident, we had a blueprint.

We are excited to share it with you.
