Greetings!
July is half-way over, and summer is finally here--wait, has it been raining again? Okay, I guess that's a bit cruel, but so is this weather. Even though Seattle weather is unpredictable, I know there's one thing I can always rely on to fill me with energy and boost my day: a tough workout.
The month of July has brought some exciting new developments:
Refer a friend: Share the joy of LAB5 with a friend or two and we'll take $50 off your next months membership! Contact us for details (info@lab5fitness.com)!
Aeriform Yoga: A unique approach to traditional yoga. Modified hammocks assist in reaching a deeper, more effective stretch. This class will literally flip your world upside down.
Nutritional Coaching: We are on the cusp of rolling out exciting new software that will help you reach your fitness goals! The program will involve an initial consultation, and continual feedback on nutritional choices. It will be easy to log nutritional consumption, and receive advice!
New retail: We have fresh merchandise on the way--so keep an eye out for the latest LAB5 swag.
HEALTH, WEALTH AND WISDOM, LAB5 P.S. If you have a free moment, would you please "Like" the
LAB5 Facebook
page? I would greatly appreciate it! I look forward to connecting with all of you on there!

LAB5 HIGH5!!
Marilyn Byrne

Started at LAB5: May 3, 2011
Favorite workout move: Pigeon hip stretches on the Reformer, TRX, and Brutal Barre
Hobbies: Scuba diving, hiking, travel (within the past year I traveled on 4 continents)
Pets? We have a wonderful 3 year old yellow lab/greyhound mix named Jake. We got him at a shelter at 1 year old and he is now a beloved member of our family.
ALSO: After almost 35 years of working in corporate positions and raising my daughter and son, I'm taking a sabbatical to figure out what I want to do when I grow up. I work out almost everyday and feel I'm in the best shape of my life since joining LAB5. My workouts help my core strength, which helps my scuba diving. I'm training both at LAB5 and diving in Puget Sound for my dream dive trip to North Vancouver Island in early October!
Marilyn has had a look of determination ever since she walked through the door of LAB5. We are fortunate enough to see her practically every day--sometime twice! Her commitment and drive is inspirational, and she is an overall joy to have around. Not only is she looking fierce, but so is her husband Jim... keep an eye out for these two in a tabataTRX class!
Marilyn attended an amazing 30 sessions during June!!

Do Something You Love. Period.

Let me ask you a question?
Do you love to exercise?
Some of you may have answered with an emphatic, "YES! I love to exercise!" I'm guessing that most of you probably answered, "Not really, but I do it because it's supposed to be good for me."
Well, if you answered "Yes," congratulations on your fitness regimen! If you answered, "No," maybe some words of encouragement are in order.
Do you remember when you were a little kid and your parents told you to clean your room, do your homework, wash your hands, etc? Didn't that make you not want to do whatever was asked of you? No one wants to be told what to do. It's human nature and that attitude persists into adulthood.
A knee-jerk, unconscious response when someone asks you if you exercise, when you are not currently exercising, will undoubtedly...

Trainer's Corner Self Reflection | | Before: Susan, with daughters Sophie & Sadi |
What happens when you look in the mirror one day and you don't recognize the reflection? Is this when a reality check is in order, or do you accept it and get on with life?
This very thing happened to me during my last pregnancy. Since the changes were so slow, I didn't notice that I was gaining excessive weight until people close to me pointed it out. I still continued to go on my merry pregnant way. It wasn't until I saw a picture of me, taken right after I gave birth, that I knew I had a long road ahead of me.
Weight was never an issue for me and I was able to take off the extra pounds from my other pregnancies. This last one was different. It took me about 9 months to...
