The Arizona Regional Extension Center (REC) will issue a request for proposal (RFP) this Wednesday to add new REC Direct Technical Assistance Providers (DTAPs) to the REC program. REC DTAPs provide "hands-on," in-office technical assistance to REC member practices--a core service the REC offers its members.
To date, Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) has been the sole DTAP for the REC. "HSAG has done an amazing job at assisting providers with adoption and optimization of electronic health records," said Melissa Rutala, AzHeC CEO and acting REC director. "Additionally, just last week we began seeing practices on the verge of attesting or attesting to Meaningful Use, which is a testament to HSAG's hard work and REC members' commitment to the process."
While HSAG will continue its roles as a DTAP, servicing the majority of REC members, the REC will bring on additional DTAPs through the RFP process to leverage the expertise of other organizations that serve Arizona health care providers with EHR adoption, optimization and Meaningful Use.
"As the REC continues to grow, it is important to ensure that the program is collaborating with all of the industry expertise that exists in the Arizona health care community," Rutala said.
New DTAPs will collectively serve up to 500 eligible primary care providers and will provide REC services to specialists when the REC expands its offerings to non-primary care providers by early 2012.
