AHCCCS Announces Launch Date for State's Medicaid EHR Incentive Program

Phased Approach for Registration and Attestation

Last week Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), the state's Medicaid agency, received approval from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for its State Medicaid HIT Plan. Approval of the plan allows AHCCCS to launch the Arizona Medicaid EHR Incentive Program. The program will launch in two phases, opening in late July as planned.

Phase 1: Registration

The AHCCCS electronic Provider Incentive Program (e-PiP)  web site for Arizona Medicaid EHR incentive payments will open for registration to all Medicaid Eligible Providers (EPs) and Eligible Hospitals (EHs) on Monday, July 25, 2011.

Phase 2: Attestation

The ePIP web site will open for EHR Adopt/Implement/Upgrade (AIU) Attestation activities for all EPs and EHs on Thursday, September 1, 2011.

AHCCCS is currently conducting a pilot of its program and ePIP website with EPs and EHs to ensure all administrative aspects of the program are ready and tested for opening in July.

More details about the Arizona Medicaid EHR Incentive Program can be found on the program's webpage at http://www.azahcccs.gov/HIT/.
