About this Workshop:

Is implementing an electronic health record (EHR) a smart financial decision or just a decision that health care providers are feeling forced into? EHRs have the potential to provide significant benefits to providers, but there are also costs associated with the decision. This presentation will address the financial ramifications of moving to an EHR and teach participants how to calculate a return on investment (ROI).

About this Workshop:

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act passed in 2010 and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act, a component of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, have many provisions that have already gone into effect and many more yet to come. The legislation will have long lasting impact on the health care delivery system. This presentation will outline key provisions of the legislation, notably related to health information technology, and discuss what individual practices can expect as a result of it.

 

Workshop Presenters:
Presenters Ann Couch, CPA and Sara Eversden, CPA from the

Institute for Healthcare Business Education (IHBE) will conduct both workshops. IHBE was founded for the purpose of providing quality business courses and seminars to individuals in the health care field.

About Ann Couch, CPA: Ms. Couch launched her accounting practice in 1981 after working as an auditor for a "Big Eight" firm. She has assisted numerous professionals in establishing their healthcare practices based on solid business and accounting principles; monitored clients for continued compliance with established procedures; and consulted with clients in methods to implement best practices. Ann is a periodic contributor to Roundup magazine, authoring several articles on practice management. She is a member of the Arizona Society of CPAs and past president of Entrepreneurial CPAs Network.
  

 

About Sara Eversden, CPA: Ms. Eversden has over fifteen years of diverse healthcare experience including physician practice management, patient accounting, Big Four professional services and business process analysis. She started her career as a business consultant at a "Big Four" accounting firm. Her experience also includes six years with the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale as a practice manager, project manager and process engineer. She then spent three years providing accounting services to small and medium size medical groups while working for a local accounting firm and then established her own accounting and consulting practice in 2008. Ms. Eversden is a member of the Arizona Society of CPAs, Medical Group Management Association and Healthcare Financial Management Association.
