Choosing a PLM solution

In the search for a PLM solution, Mercury evaluated software from Parametric Technology Corp. and Dassault Systems in addition to TeamcenterŽ software from Siemens PLM Software. Mercury's PLM solution must manage all of the company's product data, including geometric data created by its Pro/EngineerŽ CAD software. It also needs to be able to automate and manage processes such as engineering change as well as support multi-site collaboration.

Mercury chose Teamcenter because it was the "best fit" solution that met these requirements. Another factor in the decision was the willingness of Siemens to work with Mercury to ensure a successful implementation.

Solid Edge ST4 Migration Notification

Last month, Siemens PLM officially launched the latest release (ST4) of its industry leading design software,Solid Edge, at their Users Event in Huntsville, AL.

Solid Edge ST4 (V104) node-locked pre-registration is available NOW.  All customers using node-locked licenses are affected by changes to Solid Edge licensing from Version 104 onward.

Solid Edge ST4 modifies the current web-based node-locked "Product Activation" method such that the license is no longer based on the machine's disk serial number. Starting with Solid Edge ST4, license files are based on the machine's Solid Edge composite host ID number (SE-CID).

 Important notes:
ˇ         The SE-CID is a number unique to each machine.
ˇ         SE ST4 (V104) license files are not backward compatible with ST3 (V103) and earlier releases.
ˇ         The Solid Edge composite host number is different than the NX composite host ID. These numbers are not interchangeable.

All active node-locked machines need to be updated to the SE-CID number using the standard product activation process. Updating your SE-CID now will allow your permanent ST4 license files to be provided when Solid Edge ST4 releases in July 2011.

Additional details on the Solid Edge ST4 (V104) node-locked pre-registration process can be found by downloading the Solid EdgeST4 Node-Locked Pre-Registration Guide. This document contains a thorough list of FAQ.

Obtaining Useful Loads For Use in Structural Analysis

Tuesday, July 19, 11 am EST

femap

The prediction of the ability of a component to function reliably depends heavily on having a correct set of "worst case" design loads. Multibody dynamic simulation is the accepted method for simulating the overall behavior of an assembly in motion.

This webinar will illustrate the value of the load information obtained from multibody dynamics and will review the best practices for identifying "worst case" loads. Relevant simulations using NX Motion and RecurDyn will explain the use of this technology at various levels of model complexity.

Hosted by CAM Logic and Motionport.
