A big part of a race team's success depends on the people in the shop and how quickly they can make changes to the car. The challenges facing Joe Gibbs Racing included fine-tuning cars prior to race, reacting quickly to rule changes involving equipment, conducting R & D for future vehicle enhancements, all to stay ahead of the competition. Using NX software, the team was able to model parts and subassemblies, analyze them and transfer data for manufacturing. The results: 90% reduction in part grind time, suspension adjustments in two hours rather than two weeks, and scale models for wind tunnel testing. And oh yeah- three NASCAR championships. Chrysler has announced the need for Chrysler suppliers to have the systems in place and the functional capability to use Siemens Teamcenter & NX for new programs. Chrysler is using NX and Teamcenter for all new designs. Suppliers are required to use Teamcenter to connect with Chrysler. Suppliers are required to use NX to support Chrysler programs.
