Preparing for the 10th Anniversary of the Sept. 11th Attacks on the U.S.
News reports indicate that precautionary security measures have been put in place in anticipation of potential terrorist attacks this weekend, including stepping up the security presence at U.S. airports, mass transit stations, major government buildings and even sporting events. The Homeland Security Newsletter reports, "U.S again under threat," and describes what New York City and Washington, D.C. are doing to prepare for such an event. According to another news source, "An intelligence bulletin released by U.S. officials Friday warns of a al Qaeda potentially using a vehicle to stage a bombing attack on New York City or Washington, D.C., sometime around the 10th commemoration of Sept. 11, 2001." ("Joint Intelligence Bulletin Warns of Al Qaeda Potentially Using Vehicle During Attack")
As a result of these heightened security precautions, ASSIST-U.S.® has fully staffed our operations center at the Concord, NH, municipal airport and is prepared to respond to events in the New England area and beyond over the weekend. According to Rick Bartle, Director of Aviation Operations, we can deploy an airborne imagery platform in as little as one hour from our Concord, NH facility. From this airborne platform, our flight crew can support the law enforcement/first responder community not only by streaming full motion video in real time for immediate analysis and action, but also by recording other still imagery for later analysis. | | ASSIST-U.S.® Operations & Capabilities Demonstration |
