ASSIST-U.S.®Helps Responders as Spring Storms Take Their Toll Across New England & America

Greetings!

The earlier version of today's newsletter contained a broken link to Bruce Seibert's lead article. Everything works now. Sorry for any inconvenience.

This month, we address the challenges that disaster managers have faced with recent severe weather and other hazards occurring around the U.S.

Rick Bartle describes the challenges confronting first responders who need to acquire critical information to control the situation, keep personnel safe and achieve stabilization, while experiencing budget cuts that have reduced their resources.

Bruce Seibert describes how aerial video imagery services offer real-time information to both public safety first responders and those involved in post-damage evaluations.

After reading these articles, I hope you'll contact us to schedule a demonstration, facility visit, or customized mission plan consultation for your organization. Our contact information is right here.

Until next time -- Happy Independence Day!Eagle-Flag

Getting the Right Information, Right Now...

Public safety officials across the country are increasingly hard pressed after this spring's string of natural disasters. I am always amazed by the quiet courage and professionalism displayed by police, fire and rescue professionals in the aftermath of these devastating events. Without their efforts, the damaging effects of these storms and floods would be far greater.

This is even more astonishing when one sees how many public safety organizations have been forced to cut many of these positions to compensate for shrinking budgets. Today, fewer people are being expected to perform more lifesaving and law enforcement actions with fewer resources. Read on.

Joplin-3
Joplin MO Tornado Damage, May 2011

Events like these create real problems for first responders and insurance underwriters as they try to determine the extent, scope and location of the damage to people and property.

Aerial full motion video imagery can serve the needs both of first responders during emergencies and of those tasked with post-event evaluation, clean-up and restoration of the affected areas -- and ASSIST-U.S.® is ready to respond immediately when needed.

ASSIST-U.S.® Attends the New England Association of Fire Chiefs (NEAFC) Annual Meeting in Springfield, MA

Despite the F3 tornado that hit the Springfield, MA, area a month ago, the New England Association of Fire Chiefs (NEAFC) was undeterred and held their annual meeting and trade show at the "Big E" coliseum on June 24-26, 2011. Bruce Seibert and I were among hundreds of other vendors present to learn first-hand how we could best serve their needs. Read on.
