ANERA Welcomes Lebanon's Vote on Palestinian Work Rights
ANERA welcomes Lebanon's approval of a bill that grants Palestinians new rights to work in the Lebanese economy. 

"Opening the job market for Palestinians gives them a new opportunity to improve their lives with dignity and also contribute their skills to the country's economy," said ANERA President Bill Corcoran. "And, it makes our work in vocational training that much more imperative." Read more

FROM LEBANON:

Serving Ein El Helweh

Ein El Helweh is the largest Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon but is squeezed into an area of roughly 1.5 square kilometers. Living conditions for more than 70,000 refugees living there are unhealthy and often dangerous. Human Call Hospital sits near the end of one of the crowded streets that run through the camp in Saida, Lebanon. The hospital now is expanding its facilities to add room for 10 more beds, a larger ER facility and another operating room.

Through the In-Kind Program, ANERA provides about 30% of all the medicines and medical supplies the hospital receives, allowing them to use their own budget to purchase additional supplies. Read more

FROM WEST BANK:

An Entrepreneur Finds Opportunities
"The wall is suffocating the village; it's a physical and psychological prison that's prohibiting us from moving and being productive. Most young men here are apathetic and not well-educated because of the terrible financial situation."

That's how Jamila Al-Fqaih describes the unfortunate reality as she sees it. Like most women of her village, Jamila is a strong and confident woman attached to her land and determined to create a better future for her children. Luckily, she's one of many villagers able to take advantage of agricultural courses conducted by agronomists at a new center in the heart of her village of Beit Liqia, west of Ramallah.Read more
