Celebrating the Life of Martin Luther King, Jr.

Celebrate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  with one of the many events going on this week throughout the county. The University of Illinois will be putting on a series of activities, including films, service events, workshops and seminars dedicated to honoring the life of this American hero.   The 2012 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Countywide Celebration will recognize and honor individuals who have made contributions to their community in the areas of civil rights, human rights and humanitarian efforts.      

 

Illini Logo How About Some Orange and Blue?

Help us cheer on the Illini and show your orange and blue at one of the many sporting events in the next coming weeks. With the Illinois Men's Basketball season in full swing, you'll have plenty to cheer about as the Illini take on Wisconsin at Assembly Hall. If basketball isn't your sport, then get your hockey fix at the 46th Annual Chiefs Classic Tournament at the UI Ice Arena.  The Illini Women's Gymnastics season also kicks off this weekend at Huff Hall, so make sure to watch these talented girls in their first competition.  

Try Something New! 

Looking for something fun to do with the kids on their day off or on the weekend?  Why not try a fun craft with supplies from the I.D.E.A. Store?  There's plenty of inspiration here and hundreds of materials for less than a $1.  For more fun, head over to theUI Ice Arena for a lunchtime skate. Also, don't miss School's Out Day at the Champaign County YMCA for a fun day of supervised swimming, gym games, arts and crafts and more! To see the night sky like you've never seen it before, come watch a show at theStaerkel Planetarium and be mesmerized by universe surrounding us.
