Head to the Virginia Theatre October 1, for a motorcycle show and a movie! The motorcycle show will begin at 3pm with awards at 6 pm.  The featured movie will be "The World's Fastest Indian" which tells the story of Burt Munro as he spent years building a 1920's Indian Motorcycle that helped him set the land-speed world record at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in 1967.  Show time is at 7pm and tickets are only $5.

Lincoln and the Civil War,  July 1- Oct. 15 
Abe Lincoln
In commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the beginning of the Civil War, the Museum of the Grand Prairie  and Champaign County Courthouse will mount a small exhibit. Using documents, letters, newspapers and postcards, the story of how the Civil War began will be told, especially as it relates to president Lincoln.

Illinois Homecoming Week  2011, Sept. 30- Oct. 2    

 

It's that time of year again... time to sport your Orange & Blue all weekend and enter headfirst into Illini Country with the annual Homecoming festivities!  You can paint your face, sport pom poms, scream into a megaphone; any way you slice it, school spirit is the name of the game.  Let's showcase our pride and welcome back Alum from across the country as we celebrate with a parade, pep rally, Homecoming Court, tent parties and of course, a football game.  It's time to showcase our Illini spirit!

Pygmalion Music Festival 2011, Sept. 21-25 

The Pygmalion Music Festival, an annual Independent Rock Music festival, will bring in top music names from all around the country as well as throughout Champaign & Urbana.  This festival will showcase the talents of musicians such as Braid, Cut Copy, and Explosions in the Sky, as well as a variety of other artists.  So come rock out to your favorite music at the Pygmalion Music Festival!

 Vintage Streetrod Weekend

American Streetrod Vintage Weekend, Sept. 29- Oct. 2

  

Head to the Rantoul National Aviation Center for the American Streetrod Association's second Vintage Weekend Car Show.  You're sure to see some hot rods as you stroll the midway and check out some of the coolest vintage cars around.  Make sure to stick around for the Airshow as well where historic, high-performance as well as stunt planes take to the air for an unforgettable performance.  If you weren't before, this event is sure to leave you a car enthusiast!

Jack Splat

New "Jack Splat" Pumpkin Cannon at Hardy's Reindeer Ranch, 
Sept. 24- Oct. 31         

 

Jump into fall at Hardy's Reindeer Ranch with their new "Jack Splat" pumpkin rocket.  The cannon was inspired by a similar design featured on the Discovery Channel and is an absolute must-see!  In addition to the cannon, Hardy's offers a variety of other family fun activities like a 10 acre corn maze, hay rides, pumpkins, reindeer tours, race carts, a paintball shooting gallery, and food concessions on the weekends.  Hardy's is the perfect place for a fall family outing!

LEGO Contest, Sept. 24

  

Orpheum Children's Museum will be hosting its 4th annual LEGO competition on Saturday, September 24th.  Whether you choose to participate or just watch, imaginations will run wild at this event as entries will be judged on originality of the idea and creativity of the build.  Participants will also compete based on current grade to level out the competition.  The event will also feature special tips and tricks for all LEGO builders, so bring your creative thinking cap and join in the fun with LEGO this Saturday
