Sangamon River Music Festival, Aug. 26-27
This annual celebration features some great local bands that will have family and friends rocking out all weekend long. Welcoming Downtown Mahomet will also be offering Monster Truck rides, antique car show on Saturday, carnival rides, an array of vendors, food and much more. It's Downtown Mahomet like it used to be. This year's bands include Fuedin' Hillbillys, Blooze Brothers, King's Highway, ApologetiX, Renegade and Poprocks. Find out more!

1st Annual "Kick for the Cure" Soccer Invitational, Sept. 2-4 
Parkland College Men's Soccer will host a Kick for the Cure soccer tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society from 2pm on Sept. 2 to 6pm on Sunday, Sept. 4. The event will include ten community college soccer teams plus four high school teams (Centennial, Central, Urbana, Bradley Bourbonnais). Half Century of Progress Brings Thousands to Champaign County August 25-28
This bi-annual agriculture festival displays one of the largest exhibits of vintage farm equipment in the world. People gather from all over the globe to see the spectacular displays of tractors and equipment. A few of the show's highlights include: a flea market, unique vendors, tractor rides, evening tractor pulls, field demonstrations and much more. Every year boasts one major attraction. This year's feature attraction will be Kinze's Big Blue a.k.a. Double Trouble. This is a unique, one-of-a kind custom-built tractor consisting of two JD 5020 chassis and weighs in at twenty tons. Head out to the Rantoul National Aviation Center for this spectacular event!

Allerton Barn Music Festival September 1-5
It's hard to determine which has a greater effect on the soul-music or nature. Now, through a collaborative effort between the University of Illinois School of Music and the University's Allerton Park & Retreat Center, music and nature will become one with the creation of a world-class music venue-set amidst the beauty of an idyllic nine-acre historic farmstead.
Under the guidance of the School of Music and Allerton, this site is becoming a world-class retreat where acclaimed artists, upcoming musicians, and university students can exchange musical ideas, rehearse, and perform together in an inspirational environment. Krannert Art Museum Will Host Fall Exhibitions Opening Reception August 25
What a gem we have in Krannert Art Museum, the second largest art museum in the state of Illinois. Located on the University of Illinois campus, the outstanding work on display is a testament to the rich arts and culture we have in Champaign County. This Thursday, August 26, the museum will host a Fall Exhibitions Opening Reception from 6-9pm. Admission is FREE and get a peak at the exhibitions which include At Fifty: Krannert Art Museum 1961-2011; Recent Acquisitions 2006-2011; Makeba!; Jerusalem Saved: Inness and the Spiritual Landscape; and the re-installation of the Kinkead galleries. There will be a gallery talk with Michael Rush, curator of At Fifty. A cash bar will be available.
