July 23rd head to the Historic Virginia Theatre to see a true film classic on the big screen in style. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" will screen twice at 1pm and 7pm and admission is just $5. Audrey Hepburn stuns in this famous romance. And, enjoy the recent renovations at the Virginia Theatre. The lobby has been restored to its historic grandeur is is quite impressive.

The Champaign County Convention & Visitors Bureau will soon be opening at Welcome Center. We will share tourism related information with visitors on a daily basis and we'd like for you to be a part of our efforts. We're inviting select businesses to send their promotional brochures to us for display in the Welcome Center. The Champaign County Convention & Visitors Bureau is preparing to open the first Champaign County Welcome Center later this year. We're seeking tourism related businesses who have attractions, restaurants, hotels and more to work with us to fill the welcome center. And, we're planning some fun activities for all of our visitors. Be sure to get in touch with us to be involved in the fun! Whether it's through the welcome center or our Tourism Ambassadors, we are always looking for ways to engage our community in attracting visitors to Champaign County.

 Dino Detective Days at the Orpheum Children's Science Museum, July 16
The Orpheum Children's Science Museum is extremely excited to introduce Dino Detective Days - a mini-camp broken into four sessions that allow campers to travel back in time to an era in which dinosaurs roamed the Earth. Each session takes campers on a different adventure where they will learn about numerous exciting dinosaur facts as well as take part in fun-filled, educational activities. Each session will be held at the Orpheum Children's Science Museum on Saturday July 16th, August 20th & September 17th from 2 PM to 5 PM.
This event is suitable for all ages. Admission is $3 for non-members and is FREE for members.

159th Champaign County Fair, July 22-30
The Champaign County Fair returns to the fairgrounds for its 159th year. Kicking off Friday, July 22 with the exciting demolition derby, the fair continues all week with Military Appreciation Day, Family Day, Agriculture Day, Livestock Day, Democrat Day, Senior Day, Republican Day, 4-H Day, rodeos, concerts, harness racing, rides, food and much more! Don't miss Monster Truck Nationals, Custom Car & Truck Show and special deals going on daily. Take the entire family out for fun morning to night. Plan your fair fun!

Great American Throws Festival at Gill Factory, July 22 & 23
2011 marks the inaugural year for the Great American Throws Festival hosted by Gill Athletics July 22-23. This new event includes a Throws Symposium and competition targeting shot put and discus throwers. The Symposium on July 22 offers the chance to learn throws and strength techniques from top coaches and learn by doing with the pros. It also includes a tour of the Gill factory, Q&A session with John Godina and elite throwers followed by a BBQ social. Speakers include Mike Turk, Illinois' head men's track coach, April Smith, throws coach from Appalachian State University, and Bill Richards, Chair of the Wisconsin Throws Coaches Association. The Shot Put and Discus competitions will be held on Saturday, July 23. These are open competitions where all skill levels are welcome to participate. The Elite discus competition will start at 12:30pm and feature Jarrod Rome, Jason Young and Lance Brooks, the top 3 throwers at the 2011 USATF Outdoor Championship. These 3 are competing for an A-standard 65 meter throw to compete at the World Championships this August in South Korea. Also competing will be Vikas Gowda, India's National Record Holder. John Godina, four-time World Champion in the shot put and founder of the World Throws Center hosts the event for Gill Athletics. "Throwers everywhere will know that each summer they can count on a great weekend of competition, camaraderie, fun and learning in Champaign, Illinois" comments Godina.

The Champaign County Convention and Visitors Bureau is looking for people who share the excitement of living in Champaign County and love to discover and share their experiences of all there is to see and do.
