Champaign 150 Community Picnic
June 23rd

Come out and enjoy the evening in the newly completed Boneyard Second Street Basin. Music and food will be provided as we wrap up the year long 150th Anniversary Celebration. Strawberry Jam,
June 18th
Free strawberries and ice cream (while they last), live bluegrass music and an old-fashioned picnic atmosphere make Strawberry Jam a delightful way to spend a summer afternoon/evening. Join us in Meadowbrook Park and bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic dinner if you like. And take a peek at the dairy barn to see the progress that has been made so far on the interpretive center for school children who visit the park.

Blues, Brews & BBQ Festival, June 24-25th
Located in the heart of downtown Urbana, this festival is designed to bring families and the community together in a fun and entertaining environment. With nearly 30,000 attendees last year, Urbana Blues, Brews, and BBQ Festival has continued to grow and is sure to be a fun filled family atmosphere that all ages can enjoy. Illinois Swim Open,
June 24-26th
Champaign County's celebrated sports facilities are in high demand. Especially the Olympic sized lanes at the University of Illinois Activities and Recreation Center. Over 700 swimmers will descend on Champaign County for this one-of-a-kind long course meet. Tough competition from throughout the State of Illinois, Indiana and Iowa will go head to head in this challenging event.

Strip Malls, Superstores and the American Landscapestoric Aviation Comes to Life, June 27-August 1st
The Hans Habeger and Robert McCann: Strip Malls, Superstores and the American Landscape exhibit will be on display at the Parkland Art Gallery from June 27-August 1. This exhibition includes paintings that explore the byproduct of American consumer society through the landscape that is formed in the areas surrounding strip malls and superstores. Each artist imbues a seductive quality into the paintings they construct, Habeger through seeing the landscape through a fresh perspective and McCann through drama and chaotic action. Reception Thursday, June 30 with gallery talk by Hans Habeger at 7pm. Artist lecture by Robert McCann on Tuesday, August 2 at 10am in gallery.
