Growing up Wild: Discover Garden Adventures


Spring is here and it is time to get outside! Join the Lake of Woods Forest Preserve with your preschooler to enjoy the lovely sights, smells and sounds of the garden. Fee is $5 per child. Registration is required by May 13.

Community Cinema: Welcome to Shelbyville



Visit the Champaign Public Library for a screening of "Welcome to Shelbyville" which will be presented by the monthly Community Cinema Series on May 10. Admission is FREE and open to all.

Little Illini Soccer Club Spring Invitational, May 6-8

 

This weekend thousands of youth soccer teams from around the state of Illinois are poised to take the fields in Urbana and Champaign for the Little Illini Soccer Club Spring Invitational.  As one of the premier club soccer organizations in the region, the top youth talent will be showcased in dozens of matches.  Enjoy a spring afternoon and come out for some outstanding athleticism and fun!

Champaign-Urbana Ballet Presents: The Sleeping Beauty

 

Do you want to be part of a royal wedding like last weekend? This Mother's Day weekend treat your mother with an unforgettable gift and be part of a fairytale wedding. From May 7 through May 8, the Champaign-Urbana Ballet will present The Sleeping Beauty. The princess is cast on an hundred year sleep spell by an evil fairy. She can only be awakened by a true love's first kiss - the charming prince. 2011 Shopper's Expo
 

        

The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce is hosting its seventh annual business expo for the East Central Illinois region. The 2011 Shoppers Expo will be held on Tuesday, May 10 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the I Hotel & Conference Center. The event that is open to the public - because everyone is a shopper! Free parking, free admission, excellent prizes and the opportunity to shop hundreds of businesses under one roof make this an event worth attending.

Parkland College Graphic Design Student Juried Exhibition 2011

From May 9 through June 6, Parkland College will present the Parkland College Graphic Design Student Juried Exhibition 2011. Each year students' art works are selected for a presentation from approximately 400 entries. The focus of the show is togive students the opportunity to see their work outside of the classroom. Arts products are chosen ranging from two dimensional objects to painting. Art lovers will want to pay a visit to this event. Admission is FREE and open to the public.

IBEX: Search for the Edge of the Solar System

 

Wonder what is going on around you? Those with an appreciation for space and want to challenge their everyday boundaries will enjoy this unique show. The William M. Staerkel Planetarium will be hosting the IBEX: Search for the Edge of the Solar System on May 14. During the show audience members will learn more about the mission of IBEX and how they collect atoms to create the map of our Solar System's boundary. There will be a discussion with scientists and engineers that developed the IBEX.
