It's all about the Marketing! Phone Calls
Last month's tip reminds us that 80% of our business comes from 20% of our clients. Post Cards are perfect for this, but phone calls work too.
- Offering classes for the new guidelines
- Reminding clients of certs about to expire
- Letting them know you also teach First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, etc.
It works! A client of ours has their online classes calendar filled! Here are a few tips:
- Smile before you pick up the phone: whether answering or making a call. That smile will translate into a friendlier voice in your conversation.
- Don't make a hard sales pitch. Ask for the contact you've talked to in the past.
- Let them know it's a friendly reminder about certifications or even better, ask "if they heard about the new guidelines and did they have any questions".
- If they're not ready to set up a class, ask if you can send them a reminder or call them back in a couple of months.
- THEN FOLLOW THROUGH WITH WHAT YOU PROMISED!
The days of being able to sit back and wait for the phone to ring are over. Not only because of the economy, but there are other training centers that are hungrier than you and willing to service your old clients. Don't let that happen!

Q&A: You've got questions, we've got answers! How do you feel about the new guidelines?
If that doesn't open up a can of worms. For those in EMS for many, many years, the general consensus has not been favorable.
Change can be hard, but it can also be very good. It will take time to embrace the new guidelines, but maybe the best thing to come out of this is compression only CPR. 911 dispatchers will be able to instruct lay people to perform this version of CPR. And with no mouth-to-mouth, let's hope more folks will get involved.
Got question about teaching? Or maybe how to handle a specific situation during class? Email them to us us. If we use your question, we'll send you a free stock T-shirt!^Back to top |
Stories from the trenches "Not sure if I did 30 compressions, 20 or even 40!"
One of my clients (Aimee) recently took one of our Pizza CPR classes. A month later, she was talking to some folks when their mother - who was literally just discharged from the hospital - collapsed. She was in Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
She immediately started CPR. The medics arrived. It was a SAVE!
But, when Aimee called us to tell her story, she was so upset because she wasn't sure if she performed 30-2, 20-2 or even 40-2. As we tell all our students, it's about the pumping & blowing...and something is so much better than nothing.
We learned from the Medic later that she was to receive an award. It's nice to know teaching CPR can save lives!
Do you have a real-life story or an anecdote you'd like to share? Email them to us. If we use it, you'll receive a free stock T-shirt!^Back to top |
