Making Space at the Library for
' Tweens and Teens
cool space
As you may know, the Library received from the national organization Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) a 2-year grant that is administered through the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) called "Serving 'Tweens and Teens," to do just that:  improve what we offer young adults.

Naomi Magnoni, of the Library staff, Director Jane Cain, Library Trustees and volunteers are coordinating efforts to improve the teen collection, provide a space for library users ages 11-18, and develop events and programs with teens in mind.

Have you noticed the movement of some of our collection?  We began by moving back issues of magazines to the lower level of the Library. We plan to shift the non-fiction section of the library toward the back of that "stacks" area, to carve a comfortable teen space - for Southborough's young adults to relax, read a good book, chat with friends and get their work done - truly a "Place of Their Own."

We'll keep you posted as we progress - watch for images in the Teen section of the Library website. Our goal is to have a teen space available for a move in September and October. If you have
ideas, thoughts or suggestions, just let us know!
