Friends of the Library Chooses New Leadership
At the June 20 meeting of the Friends of the Southborough Library, two new Friends came forward as co-leaders of the Board of the Friends. Beth Melo, a Southborough resident with two young children, and Nicole De Bonet, a mother of a preschooler, are the new President and Vice President of the Friends. Lois Seltzer is the Recording Secretary and Valarie Lefavour will be the Corresponding and Membership Secretary. Prudence Webster will continue to be Treasurer for the Friends.
Active since 1972, the Friends of the Southborough Library provide the "icing on the cake," lots of fun programs and services at the library: Friends fund our museum pass program, many children's programs, teen events and more. They help us pay for computers, our web site and this monthly online newsletter. Welcome, new Friends, and thank you, Beth, Nicole, Valarie, and Lois.
The next Friends of the Library meeting will be on Wednesday, July 18, at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

New Uses for Old Books!
Have you noticed the display of "repurposed" books at the Library? It was inspired by a book in our collection entitled Playing with Books: The Art of Upcycling, Deconstructing and Reimagining the Book by Jason Thompson. Prudence Webster, of the Friends of the Library, spent some time this spring doing just that. She has made jewelry, paper butterflies, 3-D apples and a book bag from pages out of a children's book - laminated and stitched together beautifully. Our thanks, too, to Rich Hall, who up-cycled some old books into an actual working table lamp. Come in soon and see the display - it is amazing.

Volunteers Keep the Library Vibrant!
Our thanks to all those who help at the library, week in and week out - to sort books, shelve holds, process interlibrary loans, repair and re-label our materials, organize events, and generate great ideas! Special thanks to the Library Trustees, who work tirelessly on issues of policy, facilities and maintenance concerns, planning, and supporting the Library Director and staff. We love our volunteers.
