We need help from teens and 'tweens in planning the new teen space at the Southborough Library. If you are between the ages of 11-18 or the parent of a teen, please complete our online survey. It's easy and only takes a few minutes to do. Go to the library website, click on "Kids and Teens" tab and then "For Teens". A link to the survey can be found under "Teens @ the Library". Your input is important as we create a great space for 'tweens and teens!

The INSIDE STORY Business Speaker Series 
On Wednesday, June 27, at 7:00 p.m. please join us for the fourth talk presented by the Southborough Business Network. Our speaker will be Joseph Nunes, Executive Director of the Southborough Medical Center and member of the Board of Trustees of Atria Health. Learn about what it takes to build a business from 3 employees to 450 and to provide healthcare services today. An evening of lifelong learning at the Southborough Library - bring your business card and enter to win a door prize. Refreshments will be served. Open to all. 
New on Nooks and Kindles 
Did you know you can take out a Nook or a Kindle from the Library with some great books already downloaded? We've recently added some new titles to our Nooks and Kindles. A few of the popular books are Defending Jacob by William Landay and The President's Club by Nancy Gibbs and Michael Duffy. We will now include new Nook and Kindle titles in the "New at the Library" section of this monthly newsletter. Let us know if you have any suggestions for new titles, too.

Movie Night at the Library
On Wednesday, June 20,
6:30 p.m.to 9:00 p.m.,inception
the Southborough Library will show Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Dom Cobb is an expert at stealing valuable secrets inside people's minds during dream state. This skill has made Cobb a fugitive. He may get a second chance, if he can do the impossible: inception, planting an idea rather than stealing one. No registration required.  Rated PG-13 Running Time 148 minutes.

Have you ever read a good book and then wantedbooks to read one that is similar to it, but you're not sure where to look? NoveList, June's Database of the Month, can help. NoveList offers information on 155,000 fiction titles. Find recommended reading lists, similar books, book discussion guides, and more! Start at www.southboroughlib.org and click the ONLINE RESOURCES tab. Scroll down to reference databases, and you will find NoveList. Enter your library card number (type it in with no spaces) and begin your search for a good book!  
Evergreen is Finally Here!
The switch to Evergreen has finally happened. This change in our catalog and circulation system will be a learning experience for all and we ask for your patience as we become better acquainted with the new system. We appreciate you having your library card ready. It makes the process easier for us and quicker.

Friends of the Southborough
Library Book Sale

On Saturday, June 9, from
9:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. the Friends of the Southborough Library will hold their annual June Book Sale. This event is a big fundraiser that helps to fund special programs and more at the Library. You'll find lots of great books, DVDs, and CDs at bargain prices. Donations of gently used books and media will be accepted until Wednesday June 6. 
 

Southborough Genealogy Club
Kevin Swope of the Framingham Historical Society will  be the guest speaker for the June meeting on Thursday, June 21, from 7:00 to 8:45saxonville mills p.m. Kevin will tell us about his new book on the Saxonville Mill and its history of immigrant labor. Join us - the meeting is free and open to the public.

A Wild Adventure
On Tuesday, June 26, at 3:00 p.m. Animal World Experience comes to the Southborough Libanimals readingrary with "Jackson's Wild Journey". A giant book will come alive as you listen to a story and meet the animals as they  step out of the pages! This program is geared toward children ages 3 and up. Registration is required and space is limited. Please sign up for this program in the Children's Room or by calling 508-485-5031, ext. 2. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library.

For Children:  
Preschool Storytimstorytimee for children ages 2-5 and their families: 10 :30 a.m. on Monday, June 4; Tuesday, June 5; Wednesday, June 6. Baby & Toddler Time for infants to 2 year olds and their families: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 7. No sign up required.

 

Build with LEGOs on Tuesday, June 5, 3:45 - 5:00 p.m. at the Library. Ages 5 and up are welcome, accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Please visit or call the Library at 508-485-5031, ext. 2, to register.

 

2012 Summer Reading Starts June 18! 
Thisdreambigread year's theme is "Dream Big --Read!" and you can register in the Children's Room the week of June 18th. There will be new and exciting programs and a few favorites will be returning. We're hoping to read enough books to reach the moon and stars!

 

Pajama Storytime is back beginning Wednesday, June 27, at 7:30 p.m. and will continue throughout the summer. Bring a blanket and listen to stories outside on the lawn (weather permitting).

 

The annual Fourth of July Parade will beflag held on Thursday, June 28, at 11:00 a.m. All children are invited to march in the parade as it makes its way from the Library to the Town House. Flags and other patriotic accessories will be provided. Refreshments will be served at the Library after the parade. Registration is not required. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library.

 

For Teens:
Teen Advisory Group (T.A.G.) will meet on Tuesday, June 12.  Ages 11-18 are welcome to join this group of teens to make book suggestions and plan teen events at the Library. Call 508-485-5031 for more information.
    
For Adults:
The Library Board of Trustees meets on Tuesday, June 19, 6:00 p.m., at the Library. Meetings are open to the public and held in a downstairs meeting room.

The Friends of the Southborough Library will meet at the Library on Wednesday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m. All are welcome. 
Do you love the Library? Do you have ideas for Library events and fundraising? Join the Friends and make great things happen at the Library. Everyone needs good friends!

The Southborough Genealogy Club will meet on Thursday, June 21, at 7:00 p.m. to hear Kevin Swope of the Framingham Historical Society discuss the Saxonville Mill and its place in immigrant history in New England.

The YA Book Group will discuss This Dark Endeavor by Kenneth Oppel and I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You by Ally Carter on Wednesday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m., at the Library. Pizza and soda provided by Southborough Domino's.
