Please have your card ready
The Southborough Library will be joining more than 100 other libraries in a larger, merged network at the end of this year. Since we will be swimming in a much larger pond, we ask that you bring your library card, to help save time at the front desk. Using your barcode will be required in this new system, we are told, so we'll have to adjust to that. If you have misplaced your library card, you may get a new one, at no charge, during November and December. Thank you!

Have You Called the Library Lately?
Thanks to the Friends of the Library, we have a new, automated phone system. Now, if you call and the Library is not open, you can press "1" for the hours, or press "3" to leave a message for the director. We are pleased with our new phones, but are working out some bugs. We'd like to hear your opinion. If you have any recommendations or experience any trouble calling 508-485-5031, please alert us.

Tell Us What You Think...
We need your feedback on this newsletter and the Southborough Library in general, e.g., our holdings, events etc. Send us your thoughts in an email to [email protected] or call Library Director Jane Cain at 508.485.5031 - any time! This is your Library and we want to serve your needs!

Friends of the Library Book & Cookie Sale
Heritage Day - Monday, Oct. 10, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Southborough Teens Coordinating Cookie Sale
Please join us on Heritage Day, Monday, October 10, for the Friends of the Southborough Library annual book sale, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Library. Proceeds benefit the Library in many ways - including sponsorship of the popular museum pass program, refreshments for various library book groups, and the purchase of special-purpose library furniture and shelving.
New this year: Three local authors will have a table at the book sale and offer their latest work for sale. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Library.
Bakers and volunteers needed! If you wish to contribute homemade cookies or volunteer at this fun event, please contact Library Director Jane Cain at 508.485.5031. Thank you!
Used books for the sale are welcome! We appreciate your gently-used book donations, and you may deliver them to the Library up until Friday, October 7.
Thank you teens! We thank library staffer Naomi Magnoni for coordinating the teen effort to organize the cookie sale this year - and, of course, the teens themselves. Cookie sale proceeds will benefit teen programs at the Library.

Library Centennial Open House a Success
Library visitors enjoyed a day of reminiscing about former staff and events at the Library. There was an array of photos to browse, a display of historic documents, refreshments, and lots of conversation. Pictured below is Kim Ivers, Children's Librarian, with winners from the Essay and Art Contest sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
