Help us celebrate 100 years at our present location!
  

Please plan to join us on Saturday, September 17, for an Open House, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. as we mark 100 years at 25 Main Street, Southborough. Although the library was founded in 1852, it was moved to its current location in 1911 on land donated to the Town by the Burnett family. Refreshments will be served, including apple cake baked by Friends of the Library. If you wish to bake, or get involved on the day of the Open House, please contact the Library Director Jane Cain. Thank you!

 

On Wednesday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m., Richard E. "Nick" Noble will talk on "The Fay Memorial Library: A Perspective on Southborough's History." Plan to join us for this informative evening and bring a friend.

For Children:
 

readingteddiesPreschool Story Times
for children ages 2-5 and their families will be held: Mondays, September 12, 19 and 26;  Tuesdays, September 13, 20 and 27;  and Wednesdays, September 14, 21, and 28, 10:30 a.m.  No registration required. 

Baby & Toddler Time
for infants to 2 year olds and their families resume on Thursdays, September 15, 22 and 29 at 11:00 a.m. No sign up required.

Build with LEGOs on Tuesday, September 20, from 3:45-5:00 p.m., at the Library. No sign up required. Ages 5 and up are welcome.

For Teens: 


Teen Advisory Group (T.A.G.) Meeting
on Tuesday, September 13, 6:30 p.m. 
Ages 11-18 are welcome to join this group of teens to make book suggestions and plan teen events at the Library. Call 508.485.5031 or visit the Library to sign up.   

 

 

For Adults:   

 

On Tuesday, September 20, 5:30 p.m., the Library Board of Trustees meets at the Library. Meetings are open to the public and are held in the downstairs meeting room. 

 

frontentryOn Wednesday, September 21, 7:00 p.m., Nick Noble will speak on "The Fay Memorial Library: A Persepective on  Southborough History" in honor of our 100th year at 25 Main Street. See you there! 

 

On Thursday, September 22, 7:00 p.m., the Southborough Business Network will meet to plan future INSIDE STORY events and to review the presentation by Wegmans that was held at the library in August.      

 

Also on Thursday, September 22, 7:00 p.m., Beth Colon, M.S., HHP, Nutrition Consultant, Southborough resident and owner of Holistic Nutrition Services, will present a discussion on Childhood Nutrition. Please call the Library at 508.485.5031 to reserve a seat. 
 

The Southborough Genealogy Club will meet on Thursday, September 29, 7:00 p.m., at the Library. We'll make plans for the new season of family history fun! 

Wegmans Talk Fills Library 

It was a standing-room-only crowd at the August 23 talk by the general manager of Wegmans.

 

 

Book Discussion Groups 
 

RailwayBazaarCoverThe First Wednesday Book Group will discuss The Great Railway Bazaar by Paul Theroux on September 7, 10:00 a.m., at the Library.

 

The Senior Center Book Grou, will discuss And Then There Were None, by Agatha Christie, on Wednesday, September 14, 11:00 a.m. at the Senior Center.   

 

The YA Book Group will discuss Revolver by Marcus Sedgwick and Ship Breaker by Paolo Bacigalupi on Wednesday, September 14, 6:30 p.m. Pizza and soda provided by Southborough Domino's on Route 9.   

 

LunchMoneyCoverThe 4th-6th Grade Book Group will discuss Lunch Money by Andrew Clements on Thursday, September 15, 6:30 p.m., at the Library. Pizza and soda are provided by the Friends of the Southborough Library.   

 

The 2nd & 3rd Grade Book Group will meet on Wednesday, September 28,  6:30 p.m., at the Library to begin planning for the 2011-2012 book reading season.
