Candidates' Night at the Library, Thursday, April 28, 7:00 p.m.

Two candidates are running for an open seat on the Board of Selectmen: Jeffrey Rosenberg of Ward Road, and Daniel Kolenda of Blendon Woods Drive. On Thursday, April 28, please plan to join us at the Library to learn more about these and all other candidates for office in Southborough. Meet the candidates and ask questions. Refreshments will be served.

Books-to-Movies Discussion Group:  The Bourne Identity  

On Thursday, April 14,
   at 6:30 p.m., in the meeting room on the lower level of the library, we will watch this film, The Bourne Identity, based on the novel by Robert Ludlum. Popcorn provided, thanks to the Friends of the Southborough Library.

Spring Poetry Festival at the Library  

This year's Poetry Festival, in April and May, offers you learning opportunities through poetry workshops, poetry readings, an afternoon of Tea and English poetry with the Daughters of the British Empire. We'll have a Poem-A-Week display, hip hop poetry for 'tweens and teens and puzzles, contests and a poetry book discussion for children.

     Again this year, our poet-in-residence, Anna Catone, will share
her techniques in writing and understanding poetry in workshops and readings. Anna's poems have appeared in the Boston Review, Commonweal, Post Road and elsewhere.She holds an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, an MA from the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College and an undergraduate degree from Princeton University.She is a poetry editor at The Cortland Review and lives in Southborough.

Wednesday, April 27, 7:00 p.m., Poetry Reading: Ian Williams, college professor, poet and writer, returns with his visually interesting poetry and to read from his new novel. You won't want to miss this.

 

Thursday, April 28, 4:00 p.m. Tea Time with the Daughters of the British Empire (DBE).
In honor of Prince William and Kate Middleton's upcoming wedding, Poetry and the Royals. Refreshments and tea will be served. A suggested donation of $5.00 will be accepted, to be shared among the Southborough Library Fund and the DBE charities.  

     The Spring Poetry Festival is made possible through a grant from our Southborough Cultural Arts Council, and we thank them for that.
