June 2012, Monett Chamber of Commerce                Volume V, Issue II
Chamber
Connection

Hello Monett Chamber Members!

In each edition of the e-newsletter, I plan to address one aspect of the programs and services the Chamber provides, and hope that it will elicit thought (and hopefully feedback) from you, our Members.

This issue's topic is going to be networking events, or Membership mingles as they are frequently referred to in Monett.

The timing of this subject is not an accident, because we do have a Member mingle scheduled for August 27th from 12 - 1:00 p.m. at The Family Room Steakhouse.  During this mingle, Members who bring a door prize are eligible to give a 30 second infomercial about their business - RSVP by clicking here.

This event will combine casual networking with verbal advertising over the lunch hour.  And now the questions...

Does meeting over lunch work for you, or would you prefer in the morning or possibly after hours?  Do you want a rigid structure to your networking events (such as a speed networking type format), or do you like the casual atmosphere we currently employ?  Should the Chamber offer both and see who attends?

Please take a few moments to send me your input, as this will determine how me move forward in the Member mingle world.

Working toward our mutual growth and success,

Jeff Meredith, Executive Director

Industrial Appreciation Golf Tournament

Thank you to everyone who helped make the 25th annual Industrial Appreciation Golf Tournament a success!

The event Chairman, Scott Smith of Huffmaster Insurance did a great job of putting it all together - next time you see him, please let him know he's appreciated along with the industries in town.

The tournament results are in!

WorkReady
Did you know that a qualified labor force is one of the main factors businesses look at when deciding where to set up or relocate their operations?  What if Monett and the Barry/Lawrence region could differentiate itself from other communities by PROVING that we have a qualified labor force as a Certified Work Ready Community?

The schools are one step in this process, but we also need businesses to support the program for this to be successful.  The Monett Chamber has agreed to be a partner, and we would love it if YOUR business would join us!  Simply click on the logo above for all the information you need.  Let's help improve Monett together!

Have you taken the DREAM survey yet about your vision for Downtown Monett?  No time like the present!

The Monett DREAM Initiative (Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri Initiative) has launched a web survey to gather public input as part of the ongoing work for Downtown Monett, which will culminate in the development of the Downtown Strategic Plan.

The short online survey asks respondents questions regarding future improvements to Downtown. PGAV Planners, the DREAM initiative's planning consultant, developed the survey with assistance from the City and input from local businesses, property owners and residents.

The survey is an opportunity for members of the community to influence the direction of Downtown Monett. The results will assist in establishing priorities and future projects. Please join us in giving your feedback on how to improve Downtown Monett! Just click here to share your thoughts.
