32-Hour Medical Gas Class Scheduled
Indiana PHCC and Mechanical Skills, Inc. are partnering to offer a Medical Gas Installer certification course. The successful completion of this required 32 hour course, requires a passing grade of 75% on a written exam given on the morning of the fifth day, and brazing of a coupon in both the horizontal and vertical positions. Water Well Pump Installer Rule Changes
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Division of Water, has proposed Rule changes to the Water Well Pump Installer and Well Driller License. Those proposed changes are now in the public comment stage. You can view them here. If you would like to comment you may do so by going to http://www.in.gov/nrc/2377.htm. There will be a Public Hearing on the changes on October 14th at 10:00 a.m. in Indiana Government Center North, Room N501, Indianapolis. |
OSHA 10 Hour Certification Class
An OSHA 10 Hour class will be taught at Mechanical Skills, 3535 E. Michigan Street, Indianapolis on October 12th and October 19th. The class will be from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on each day to allow technicians to work a half day if so desired. The class will provide the student with the basics of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) in construction standards in the Act. You must attend both sessions in order to successfully complete the course. The class will be taught by Jon Hile, Bailey Safety, Louisville, KY. The cost is $130 and the class size is limited. Backflow Cross Connection Certification Class
A backflow training/cross connection certification class from the American Backflow Prevention Association in accordance with the Indiana Department of Environmental Management will be held from October 17 - 20 at the Mechanical Skills building in Indianapolis. Member & Industry News
Former Indiana PHCC Contractor of the Year, Craig Rice, is now doing plumbing work for the US Army in Afghanistan. He is an employee of Fluor Intercontinental and working on a project called LOGCAP (Logistical Civilian Augmentation Program). He is working at a new base near the Pakistani border. Once he gets settled he will be sending us updates.

Contractor Sting Update!
The unlicensed sting that the Indianapolis Department of Code Enforcement did with Angie's List and the BBB has brought more attention to Indiana PHCC's Hire A Licensed Plumber program. We are currently working on a segment with an Indianapolis television station. Stay tuned!
Indiana PHCC has been notified that the association has won a 2011 Chapter Excellence Award from PHCC National. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in both management and service to PHCC members. The award will be presented to President Laura Ciriello-Benedict on Wednesday, Sept 21 at the Leadership Lunch at the National Convention in Minneapolis. |
