All the Cool Kids Are In School:
School is in session! Apprentice school begins at various PHCC locations throughout the state. Don't forget the law stipulates that if you have someone doing plumbing other than a licensed journeyman or plumbing contractor, they must be registered as an apprentice and be enrolled in an approved Office of Apprenticeship program and recognized by the Indiana Plumbing Commission. |
New Code...New Test?
The new Indiana Plumbing Code, based on the 2006 International Plumbing Code, is still undergoing the review process and has not been officially adopted by the State yet. Therefore, those students who are in the fourth year of apprenticeship will be taking the Journeyman's exam with questions related to the current Indiana Plumbing Code 1999 Edition (UPC 1997 Edition). |
Patriotism In South Bend
St. Joe Valley PHCC is contributing more than $10,000 to provide phase II of the plumbing work for the Robert L. Miller Veterans Center, scheduled to open 11/11/11 in South Bend. A St. Joe Valley work day is taking place this Saturday, August 13th at the facility. Local 172 and St. Joe Valley PHCC contributed to the first phase. Ferguson, Etna and Mid-City Supply have also given to the project. The facility will house up to 20 homeless veterans and will provide counseling and job services to those in need. It is thought to be one of the first of its kind in the country.

In the Plumbing Press
Indiana PHCC is in the forefront again! After columnist Richard P. DiToma wrote a piece for PHC News magazine giving advice on dealing with unlicensed persons performing plumbing services, Eugene Schuler contacted him. DiToma was so impressed with Indiana's efforts that he printed Eugene's response in his July column on page 25. |
