Welcome to amd's second quarter 2010 newsletter... (Less than 2 mins to read)
It's been a little while since I have had a chance to put together amd's newsletter which is testament to how busy I and amd have been, thanks to you customers! I thought it would fit nicely to round off all three months of the last quarter in one newsletter and try to cover as much of them as possible.
I have been focussing a lot of time on restructuring amd's production hours to provide the most efficient production for our customers. So far so good and amd is now running a very successful night shift. I am continuing to push my team (which includes some new faces) as much as possible to drive the business on... and so that I can get a new Audi - the S5 Coupe looks nice!
I hope you enjoy catching up on the news from amd.
Regards,
Steve

New hours, new staff, new roles
The new night shift at amd has been running as smooth as silk and is enabling me to provide customers with very fast turnaround times. I have been in the game a long time and seen many a night shift encounter problems, but I understand that the key to the set up is trust, and I have two of my best lads here overnight - letting me sleep easy. The night shift hours are set at 5:00pm - 5:00am Tuesday - Thursday and 3:30pm - 3:30am on Friday with the day shift now running 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Thursday and 8:00 - 3:30 on Friday. This set-up is working well and enabling us to service our customers brilliantly without too much overtime. Don't worry however, the option of overtime, if you have a work overload, is still there for you... at a price! The three new lads with my Foreman Scott in the blue | I am delighted to say that I have hired four new members of staff here at amd: a wet painter, a powder coater, a shot blaster and a labourer. I am delighted with their performances to date and am also pleased that I can help out the North East by employing great workers who may otherwise be out of a job. James is also climbing his way up the ladder at amd as he continues to benefit the company. His role within the business is growing and I have given him the new title of Marketing and Administration Manager as his resposibilities increase. James will become only more involved with all of you... so if he does anything wrong, give me a shout so I can straighten him out! All of these changes are being made to help out all of my customers and provide the best painting services around. Get in touch with me if you have any feedback or suggestions and I will be more than happy to have a good chat, preferably over a pint! |

working with one another once again. Actuators after shot blasting | Emerson Process Management combines

systems, process measurement and analytical products, final control
elements and a range of software. The actuators which amd are painting for Emerson (pictured though the paint process) act as valves for oil & gas pipelines and are essential for safety within the oil & gas industry. The units themselves vary in size and weigh from 30kg to over 800kg's. amd shot blasts, primes and paints the units with Ameron paints to 200 microns to the exceptional standard which is required for this type of prestigious and essential product. Further certification
I am very happy to report that after several long months of testing amd have all but achieved Interpon PZ approval from International Paints as the final touches to the paperwork are made. amd will offer a warranty on a external paint specification which will particularly benefit our architectural fabrication clientele. The paint spec which offers high anticorrosion protection entails a shot blast, a coat of Interpon PZ primer and a powder coated finish. There was never really any doubt that amd's application of this spec would pass the long testing period but we will soon offer a formal warranty, though International Paints, which will provide our customers with even greater reassurance that you are receiving the very best quality coatings. For more information on the Interpon Steel Anticorrosion range please click here.
I was also very pleased to announce that amd has sailed through its first six monthly ISO evaluation, meaning that we continue to trade as a fully ISO 9001:2008 certified company. Despite achieving this standard comfortably we are still endeavouring to further improve all aspects of the business and there are many plans in the pipeline which will keep pushing amd upwards. One of these plans is to streamline the administration process downstairs, one of James' tasks, which will tighten our quality control and ensure that we fully conform to all the aspects of the ISO, plus further standards which amd imposes on itself to make sure it stays ahead of the game!
The other plans are in development, but I am keeping them hush-hush for the moment. I will reveal all in the next newsletter!

New fantastic sculptures
The alien - its massive tail can't fit in our reception! | amd has had the pleasure of painting some more of the amazing sculptures from Metallic Creations including the alien from 'Alien vs. Predator' and a very large Dolphin. We have now painted both the alien and the predator and they make quite a pair in our reception!
The dolphin was sculpted all in one piece unlike most of the other sculptures which come apart for ease of transport. Standing three metres in height and a few metres in circumference it was therefore quite a unit to handle, but no problems for our lads.
The dolphin on site in Scotland | The finish was excellent and it is now standing proudly in Scotland as a piece of public art.
It is there without planning permission and causing quite a stir... but apparently that is the way it is done in Scotland!
