Helen Anderson of
The Manatee Company, Inc.

The Manatee Toy Company is the oldest shop in Heritage Village. The company was founded a number of years ago when the original owner created a pattern and made stuffed manatee toys for her daughter and friends in her garage. Word of the fabulous toys led to more and more requests. An idea and a company were formed. The original Manatee Toy Company was exactly that, a company that designed made and sold stuffed manatee toys. In 1991, the operation moved to the old livery stable until it was destroyed in 1993 by a major flood. In 1996, the Manatee Toy Company moved to a new building in Heritage Village where we remained until 2007 when we moved to our current location at 707 North Citrus Avenue.

Since that small, but successful beginning, the Manatee Toy Company has grown into a full service gift and souvenir shop offering items for all ages in all price ranges. As our logo says "Gift Shop for Children and Grown Ups Too". Our merchandise is still manatee and Florida themed, but now includes jewelry, resort wear, figurines, Christmas ornaments, post cards, books, fine collectibles, hats, handbags, wine glasses, seashells, aprons, refrigerator magnets, laser cubes, sand sculpture and anything else we can find that looks like a manatee or we can decorate with a manatee. Of course we still carry John Lithgow's "I'm a Manatee" is one of the many stuffed manatees in a variety of sizes, books in our "Book Nook" styles and colors. We have also added national brands such as "Folkmanis" puppets, "Goin' Coastal" and "Life is Crap" Tees, "Jelly Belly Candy, "SPI Home" bronzes, and "Sun N' Sand" handbags.

We enjoy visitors from all over town and all over the world. We can accommodate tour groups of up to 80 at a time. With 48 hours advance notice, our efficient staff will have your group in and out within an hour.

The Manatee Toy Company is the original manatee store and still your best source for all your gift needs. So come on in and meet with our friendly and knowledgeable staff or call us, we ship.
