Greetings!
The current issue of the Communique, our print magazine, is almost ready to mail. Focusing on Social Justice, this issue is jam-packed with news and information. Read more about the new format of our Communique from our Vice-President of Information and Communication, Marilyn Rishkofski. Our National ECW Liaison to ERD (Episcopal Relief and Development) is Province V Representative Valerie Hoffman-Hatcher. Valerie shares her story this month about a recent ERD meeting she attended in Belize in this month's Spotlight on Ministry. And Elsie plays detective for one of our ECWs looking to replace a treasured t shirt purchased at General Convention. We do hope you enjoy this issue!
Blessings,

Elsie's Inbox
Hello ECW! Elsie Chelsea Worthmore here, answering your questions like this one:
I sincerely hope you don't find my inquiry a trivial and time-wasting matter. A while back I bought a wonderful T-shirt I enjoyed wearing everywhere. It simply stated that "God Is Not A Boy's Name." Women beamed and men squirmed. I'm certain it was a fund-raising product from your organization. Unfortunately, I accidentally put it in a box of things I gave to charity. It was one of my life-long favorites. By any chance do you still have this available? Do you know who might? I'm aware this is far from a priority for you and understand a quick reply is not reasonable. Just please let me know what you find out when you can. Katie Purvis No Attleboro MA
Please take a moment to visit their web site and discover more about this great organization. Until next month, keep up with us through our Facebook page!

Spotlight on Ministry
2010 ERD Network Meeting: Belize City, Belize
by Valerie Hoffman-Hatcher, ECW Liaison to ERD
Each year Episcopal Relief and Development has invited all Diocesan ERD Coordinators to attend a network meeting for three full days (Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning breakfast) of information and reports. Belize City, Belize (formerly British Honduras) was the site of the Network Meeting of 2010. This was the first network meeting outside of the United States.
We began our visit and meeting by attending Holy Eucharist at St. John's Cathedral which was dedicated in 1826, making it the oldest Anglican Church in Central America. After dinner were greeted by the Bishop Philip Wright, Luke Foder, Dr. Rob Radtke and the Rt. Reverend Rob O'Neill.
The following day we were assigned to buses for our visits to the schools. Our first school visit was to Flowers Bank where we visited St. Stephen's School. The children and teachers welcomed us. (see picture above)

A Note from Our Vice-President of Information & Communication, Marilyn Rishkofski
Soon you will be receiving the summer issue of the printed Communiqué. You will notice some changes. As usual, we are focusing on the wonderful work the ECW accomplishes throughout the dioceses. What we have added is a theme for each issue. The August issue told of Social Justice Projects. The next issue will focus on Young Adults in the Episcopal Church. Subsequent issues will center around the environment, health issues (local and global), and an issue on Spirituality and women clergy. Next April our Tapestry of Ministry issue will again highlight all women's ministries. The Communiqué in 2012 will focus on the upcoming Triennial Meeting, but even here we have a few surprises that we are sure you will enjoy. So you are all forewarned! The communications team on the National Board hopes that you enjoy all that we send out either in print or electronic form.
Thank you,
Marilyn |
