Breaking Ground and Building Community

Building Permit 2012

After months of anticipation and preparation, lots have been purchased and the permits are in to begin construction on the next round of Evergreen Habitat homes in Clark County. Lots one and two at NE 49th and 19th Avenue will be the future homes of the Adams and Murphy families.  Each family has completed the first 100 hours of their sweat equity requirement.  The Adams family home is made possible through a partnership with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the Murphy family home is sponsored by Wells Fargo.

In a few weeks, Evergreen Habitat will begin a third project in partnership with Clark County and Quail Homes. Stay tuned for more information on this green project.

Ground Blessings - Join us this Sunday!

 ground breaking stock

The ground blessing for the Adams and Murphy homes is scheduled for this Sunday, July 15th at 1:00 pm.  Come help us celebrate as two more hard working families begin their Habitat journey of home ownership.  The symbolic ground breaking ceremony indicates that construction on the home will soon be underway.

The ceremony will be held at the site of the homes; at 4901 NE 19th Ave., Vancouver, WA.

Evergreen Habitat will introduce the families and hold a ground blessing while participants enjoy refreshments. Wells Fargo, the Murphy family home sponsor, as well as Thrivent Financial, partner to the Adams family, has pledged volunteer hours towards each of the homes completion.

Whether you volunteer frequently with Habitat, have thought about it or just want to come see our work, you are invited to come out and be part of the celebration.

Construction Briefs

Bastidas home 2012

Construction is moving along on the Women Build lot.  The gables are done and beautiful. Plumbing, HVAC, electrical and drywall are now in!  It's been a busy month, everything is looking great and we are looking forward to lots of sun and finish work to complete the first Evergreen Habitat for Humanity Women Build!  The lot has been back-filled so the lot is really taking shape.

We will be focusing on painting, and finish work to complete the family home.  Drive by the lot on 39th and Lincoln to see this amazing home.  Site Supervisor, Matt Resse and the volunteers have really worked hard to make this dream a reality for the Bastidas family. If you are interested in becoming part of something that changes lives and makes Clark County a better community, volunteer with us!  Register on-line.
