Kristina Aitchison, Executive Director for Evergreen Habitat for Humanity is one of the nine Clark County residents nominated for the 2010 General George C. Marshall Public Leadership Award.
"Being nominated has made me more reflective on leadership and I commend Fort Vancouver National Trust for celebrating public service," Aitchison said.
The award recipient will be recognized on November 3rd at a 4 p.m. ceremony at the Marshall House on Officers Row.
Now in its 22nd year, the Marshall Public Leadership Award honors the legacy of General George C. Marshall and is organized by the Fort Vancouver National Trust as one of its Celebrate Freedom programs.
Marshall lived in Vancouver for two years, from 1936 to 1938.
During World War II, Marshall served as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army. He was Secretary of State (1947-1949) and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on the Marshall Plan.
The award recipient will receive a scholarship to participate in the Leadership Clark County program, a tour of the Marshall Foundation in Lexington, Virginia, and a trip to Colonial Williamsburg and Washington, D.C.
