Thrivent Kick Off Meeting Discusses Construction Plans with Habitat Staff and Volunteer Leaders

Over 20 people attended the Thrivent Builds kick off meeting on March 9th to discuss the construction schedule and volunteer process for building the Soria family home.
 
Various Lutheran church leaders, Thrivent Financial for Lutherans staff, the Soria family and the Evergreen Habitat for Humanity staff gathered to discuss the logistics of the construction process and volunteering opportunities that will begin on May 13th. 
 
Anne Anderson, Thrivent Specialist, told the group how Thrivent is very supportive of the Evergreen Habitat for Humanity affiliate since it has agreed to sponsor a second house this year after the successful completion of the Cramer home last year.
 
"We hope this will provide a meaningful volunteering experience. Thank you all for your enthusiasm."

ReStore Celebrates First Anniversary on May 1st

The one year celebration for the Habitat for Humanity ReStore is planned for May 1st.
 
The ReStore first opened its doors to the public at 5000 E. Fourth Plain Blvd. location in Vancouver last May.
 
Habitat ReStores sell a variety of new and used home improvement products at a fraction of retail prices.  Proceeds from the sales of these items is the 


 
 
 
Golf Tournament Fundraiser Planned for May 27th

Carts
Camas Meadows golf course will be the location for Evergreen Habitat for Humanity's fifth annual fundraising golf tournament on Thursday, May 27, 2010.
 
Team Construction is the platinum sponsor for this event.  West Coast Bank and Scherer Enterprises are also sponsors for this fundraiser that features a 4-person scramble game and costs $125 per player.
 
The tournament package includes range balls, carts and barbeque following the golf game.  The check in time is at 7:00 a.m. and tournament play begins at 8:00 a.m. There will be a variety of prizes and a raffle as well.

There are only a few corporate or tee box sponsorships left for purchase! Call today if you are interested in becoming a sponsor or to register for this event.

"We want to have the house completed and moved into by Nov. 27th," Schlemmer said.
 
Volunteer Coordinator, Andrea Mayhew, then reviewed the requirements for the volunteers such as liability waivers, age requirements for volunteers and other general information about the work site.
 
The meeting in the Clark Public Utilities community room concluded with various fundraising ideas and upcoming event announcements.
 
"The ground breaking ceremony will be at the Patten Park development on May 2nd at 1:30 PM," Executive Director, Kristina Aitchison said.
