Mason is a sweet little boy who has been through so much.
When little Mason came to us he was severly matted, and once we started to shave him we saw just how bad the matts were.
The hair on Masons leg had formed a tourniquet around his leg, and cut off the blood supply (think of it like a rubber band wrapped really tightly around his leg). Because of this he was in danger of losing his leg.
Lucky for Mason he was brought to us, and Dr. Smith was willing to try everything he could to save the leg.
Dr. Smith, one of our dedicated Veterinarians, performed a few debridement surgerys (removal of unhealthy tissue from a wound to promote healing) on Mason in order to prepare him for the future surgeries he would have.
At the end of August Dr. Smith performed a skin graft surgery on Mason. Mason underwent many bandage changes which required him to be sedated, all to make sure the leg was healing well. Thankfully the surgery was successful and Mason (many thanks to Dr. Smith and his team!) was able to keep his leg!
It's now November, three months after we met little Mason and he is finally able to go to a new home. We have all become attached to him, especially our wonderful surgery techs, and while it will sadden us a little, we can't wait to see him happy with a family of his own.
Please help us go the extra mile with more animals like Mason, animals who deserve a fair chance at a full life. To help simply Click Here and make a donation to Honey's Fund. Every penny donated to Honey's Fund goes directly to the care of sick and injured animals.
Last year we spent over $30,000 to care for sick and injured animals, and this year we are well on our way to exceeding that amount. Please be a voice for the animals, please donate to their chance at life.
