Right now in the building at the Humane Society there are 28 dogs, 71 cats , eight small animals (guinea pigs, rabbits) and one Hahn's Macaw waiting to find a home. That number does not take into account any animals in foster homes (mid kitten season we can have over 70 cats/kittens in foster homes). There is always the possibility that more animals will walk througth the doors at some point today. In fact it's pretty much inevitable.
Without the continued help from the friends and family of the HSCC we would never be able to save all of those lives. The lives of the young and the old, the weak and the strong. The stories we tell you in our emails about animals like Bridgett, Lou Lou, Sparrow, or Chloe are only able to be told because of your support.
Every year we hold our biggest event, Walk for the Animals at Bark in the Park. The success of this event can make us more financially capable to provide comfort and care for the over 10,000 animals we see annually. It helps us provide low cost vaccination clinics and low cost spay/neutering to the public. It provides for us to continue to reach out to the community through education in the hopes that one day pet over-population and animal cruelty will be a thing of the past.
You can help us meet these goals. Simply Click Here to be taken to our Fundraising Page for Bark in the Park. You can create your own page, or create a team to start raising much needed funds for the animals. Teams can be anything; a group of co-workers (HSCC Staff has a team), a Mom's Club, Scout Troop, Church Group, or just a group of friends!
Here is a sampling of how funds raised would be used:
$20 will feed a litter of kittens for a week
$30 will buy two 50lb. bags of quality dog food or four 25lb. bags of cat food
$50 will cover the cost of spaying or neutering a dog/cat before adoption
$75 will cover our utility bills for 1.5 days
$100 will cover the cost of vaccines, heartworm, or leukemia testing and microchipping, as well as spaying/neutering before adoption
$600 will cover computer tech support for the shelter for one month
